I found one in new condition that I'm interested in, but I don't know much about them.  Not enough to properly inspect this one, anyway.

Are there any weaknesses in the 2016's?  Hull? Mirage drive? Vantage seat?  Rudder cords?

There's also a clean 2018 Outback for about the same cost but a bit farther away from me.  Are there differences between the 2016's and the 2018's?

I can't believe I might stop paddling and start pedaling.

I used to own a 2016 Outback and can't think of any weaknesses.  Recently upgraded to 2022 Outback for more room, kick-up fin, and rear handle for easy picking up.

Thank you, Paul.  My previous Hobie was a 2014 Revolution 13 and its weakness was Wet Butt Syndrome.

I appreciate this.  Thanks again.

Hi Kevin

I used to have one of those too.  It is worth upgrading just for the Vantage seat.

Everyone tells me that.  I hope I get a chance to see if everyone is honest.  Thanks, Paul.

2015-2018 are very solid kayaks. The only problem people complain about is the hull slap when otw due to hull design. If money is not an issue, I’d suggest to pick up the newer design (2020 and up). I absolutely love mine (2020). My go to has alway been my Revo16, but I find myself using my Outback more nowadays. The new design started 2019, but I’d stay away from that year. Too many problems with hull cracking.

Thank you, Mr. Superb.  I saw hull failure as an issue with the 2019's just a little while ago on the Hobie Forums.  No 2019's for me!

I started out searching for smaller, lighter, and simpler and see what I'm looking at now?  I have completely lost my mind!  And I could end up with a shiny, new 2023 by the time I'm done.

Appreciate the information.  Thanks again.
