Hey all,
 I have not been on the site much lately and have just returned from Oceanside after losing
my Dad a week ago to complications from his chemo treatments.

 Dad put up a great fight but the effects of the chemo took its toll on his 82 yr. old body.
Over the last 3 months his immune system became more and more compromised, needed 2 sets of blood transfusions for low white cell counts, lost  bowel and bladder control, numerous fevers, lost all appetite,
mental capacities declined, had frequent hallucinations and lost all strength. He was hospitalized on 2 separate occasions in the last 3 weeks. He managed to complete 4 of 6 planned chemo treatments. While in the hospital
last weekend the Dr.s told us (His 3 Sons) that his kidneys had failed and told us if he had dialisis he may only expect to last 1-2 more months. So we decided to not delay the inevitable and brought him home  Mon. evening
11/12 so he could be home when his time here came to an end.

 My family (wife, daughter, son in law, and grandson) made the 10 hour drive from Redding on short notice to join me and be with him before his number was called. Once we got Dad home we asked the hospice nurse to delay giving him seditives until he had time with his entire family.  We told him how much we loved him and thanked him  for being a great Dad. He was even able to meet, see and touch his only great grandson
(my 4 mo. old grandson) which brought a smile to his face and tears to my eyes.

 After we all had spent time with him and the seditives were administered, the end came quickly and painlessly and he passed away at 2:44 am on Tues. 11/13 with his 3 sons and my wife by his side.  We lost our Mom to cancer 6 years ago so now they are together again for eternity.

We love you Mom and Dad, glad you are reunitied!

through her death she has taught so many what it means to be alive.  Each day is a precious gift not to be squandered or wasted in anger or full of hate.   I find myself thinking less about work and more about the beauty of each day.  thanks Tianna.  I have nowhere near the grace you did, but will strive to be half the person you are
