Tedskis' first hand knowledge is very much appreciated in explaining the reality against what we would hope and prefer occur.  It stinks when the people that want to help ( I am assuming the CG crew wanted to help) are told not to by those that are in charge, but those are the rules.  Hopefully this type of occurrence will get a decision maker to work on changing the rules that CG crews must follow.

weren't we all young and dumb until we got old and wise?

But I agree, these two have a long way to go before they are no longer part of darwin's theory

The point being California taxes paying state or state contracted employees to work while the same state government locks down private citizens businesses and private employment.

Which is obviously 100% Vash's fault, correct?
What type of logic brings you to that conclusion?

at first i thought SOMA was just kidding.....Can SOMA first explain his own logic? Or is just pure saltiness toward people that are working.

I read SOMA's logic to say if the State is in a lockdown, then State contractors should be locked down as well.  If that is correct, then CalTrans can't repair the roads, CalFire can't put out the fires, etc.  seems flawed.

If SOTW, ex-kayaker and rock hopper think SOMA is off base then that should tell you something.

Vash - go getum (Both the fish and the cakes).  Looking forward to reading about all the awesomeness that you will experience.

As far as salty SOMA goes, forget about it.  Wonder if he had the same response to the folks from Paradise "living off of tax dollars".

and my grandfarther was the foreman on highway 1 between Carmel and SLO when it was being built (damn I'm old).  Tax dollars paid his wage but he worked a hard and honest life.

General Talk / Re: Need Input! MBNMS Advisory Council
« on: February 17, 2021, 08:29:01 AM »
If I have learned anything this year(questionable), is that anything to the far left and to the far right is not where I want to be.  I definitely have gained a better appreciation of each sides views and the lengths and means each side will use to make their point.  I have also seen how it tears communities apart and empowers each side of the spectrum to go to the extremes.

Yes, stand up for what you believe and argue for what you believe, but know that at the end of the day you may or may not win your argument and life will go on.

The bear hunting legislation was pulled when the community that was actually going to be impacted spoke up and their voices were heard.  Hopefully the same will apply to the crabbing legislation.

The voices on an advisory council are important and I respect anyone that voluntarily takes the position and sticks with it.

Adam, from everything I see on this thread and your other posts, you are the right guy to be on the board as your passion and understanding of the area will be of great benefit.

General Talk / Re: Monterey area Great White Sharks

... when they do bite somebody, it's almost never a sustained attack. It's a one-time bite, and then they leave.

Well, that's reassuring. Sort of. Or not really...

... the shark only took one leg, so it's really not a big deal.  I kept fishing ...

Alright.  We'll call it a draw  :smt044

Welcome aboard.  Sugar Pine is a great spot in your neighborhood to begin to work on your skills. (Easy launch, no powerboats, etc)

and definitely take Eric up on his offer

Safety First / Re: Proposed kayak/paddle board regulations
« on: January 27, 2021, 08:01:41 AM »
Cyclist are required to wear helmets but there are plenty that choose not to.  No license or safety class required to ride a bike yet they share the some of the same area (the road) as licensed drivers.  Common sense is not something our government should or could try to regulate.

Bicycle Helmet use is mandatory only 18 and under.  At majority age, the law prioritizes choice over forced utilization of safety gear.  The age related helmet statute is not directed at common sense so much as protection of still-developing brains and bodies.

Thank you for pointing this out.
