I've had my Radar 135 for just over a year now & installed the Helix PD today.    One thing I noticed right away is just how noisy it is when pedaling foward and quiet in reverse.  The floor model at the store did not sound this way and for $1100 I would not expect it.
Please Check the video and share your thoughts on this.

Now I just need to get my humminbird helix 5 si chirp gps g2 rigged and running. Other minor upgrades I have added include the WS hatch insert & WS front hatch cooler.

Curious, doesn’t anyone on this forum have the Helix pedal drive?
Hope it's not an insult.  It sounds quite silent in reverse...I do not have one but I hope you figure it out and get on da wattah'... :smt006

Agreed, very quiet in reverse.  But I think I may develop a kink in my neck driving backwards everywhere I go.  :smt043

Sadly, when I called the store yesterday to inquire if the grinding was normal, I was told "call back Monday, no one here knows anything about the Helix Pedal Drive". :smt009 You would think someone at  the "2nd largest" kayak dealer in the nation would know something.  Until I get this resolved I don't want to put it in the water  :smt105

Maybe there is a quieting in the water...I hope so, if not you'll prolly get used to it because of all the beautiful sounds of the ocean and bays...gotcha on the reluctance to use it until you're sure... :smt006

Hopefully someone will be with you shortly. Maybe the guy on duty in the wilderness forum called in sick today. Maybe they’re all out having fun on a summer Saturday.

That does seem really loud. Maybe try Youtube for some review videos
