This is the largest derby in WA with 3000+ participants ... http://www.everettcohosalmonderby.com/.

This year they are adding a "human powered watercraft" division.  The derby is over a large area including fresh and salt water, so there is plenty of room to find a safe place for kayaks to fish away from rabid power boaters.  NWKA is trying to find a centralized campground for us to base and fish from.

Crap... it's going to conflict with the Bay Area Paddlefest / NCKA's Sharkfest Derby at Coyote Point.  The grand prize will again be a Rancho Leonero Resort vacation for two.

Hmmm, depending on when I actually move to Portland (either at the beginning or the end of Sept), I may be able to make this.  My fear is that I'll be in the middle of packing and will have to miss both the coho and shark derbies.

So it's confirmed that we will have a brand new Trident as a prize at this derby.  Anyone thinking of coming up for this one?  I can probably put someone up for the night(s) and provide kayaks to fish from.  Let me know.

The dates are Sept 22-23.
