Weather in Monterey looks permitting for the kayak next Wednesday 3.5.25. What depth do ya'll expect halibut are at right now? I know they run super shallow mid summer, but I have no idea how deep to fish for them now.

It's a big trip to make from east Fresno for one target fish that isn't biting much right now.

They move out to deeper water like 130ft or more in Winter time.  Now Spring is around the corner so hopefully they will move closer to shore.

Thanks so much guys!  I found a used laptop on Facebook and am up and running now.  I will consider this to be my year of change and that it will all work out for the better in the long run.  Thanks for your support!

That's the spirit 👏

Sorry to hear about your job loss. I got an old LT but forgot my login PW.  You can reformat the HD and install the SW.  LMK if you want it.  BTW, my company KLA is hiring. If you are interested,  send me your resume.

General Fishing Tips / Re: How to get live bait in the ocean?
« on: February 21, 2025, 12:21:14 PM »
I usually spend an hour trolling for live baits in the morning using 2 rods with Sabiki.  1 with 6oz weight and about 10-15ft from surface and a 3oz in 40-50ft deep.  If I see baits on the bottom then drop the 6oz rod down to the zone.

Desperately in need of water therapy, but it’s weekends for me for now and Santa Cruz looks a little swelly this Saturday and Sunday.

Also never been to Monterey in the kayak, so I don’t know parking protocols or how the swell reports down there translate to real-world conditions.

Forecast looks decent and launching at Coast Guard pier is easy.

It was fun to hang with my dude and do some camping.  Having some issues uploading pics, but have a couple for now just not the ones I wanted to post  :smt005 It was great scenery up there, driving through the snow top peak of 155 and down the other side to lake Isabella and then up into the canyon we camped in, with a camping spot that had amazing views of the snow dusted peaks, giant boulders and scenic mountain tops, on a cliff right next to the river with the fire pit on the ridge.  Just awesome!  Thanks for the fun time D! Do it again when its not 45 and blowing cold as hell all night long  :smt005

Do you expect us to believe a savvy tech guy like you having issues with uploading pictures?  :smt003
