First sentence is wrong on both fronts: it is neither the largest nor the oldest kayak-fishing tournament. Now I'm curious.... What is the largest and oldest west coast kayak tournament? 5
Fishing Tournaments and Events / Re: ALBION OPEN 2023 SEPT 16« on: August 08, 2023, 08:31:34 PM »Dennis sounds like a party pooper Met Dennis last week. He opened the gate for another yaker and I. Seemed like a great guy chatted for a minute about fishing and he seem to like the fishing kayak community but had issues with the late night party people.... 6

General Fishing Tips / Re: Keeping ice on the kayak« on: August 07, 2023, 08:46:35 AM »
I have been using an Opah Fathom K3 Kayak cooler bag https://opahgear.com/products/opah-kayak-bag-36 and have been putting it thru the ringer! Super durable! Fits perfect on the front of the kayak. It's definitely on the higher end of the kayak cooler bags but it comparing it to other bags Opah is by far the most durable! I have been able to keep ice in it for over two days! I'll use it while working on the charter boat as a kill box "liner" helps keep the ice slurry stay frosty. I think we have stuffed over 8 Halibut in it! Spiky fish haven't punctured anything. Plus it has backpack straps on it making carrying fish or supplies much easier! Would highly recommend this bag to fellow yakers. Hearing they are working on a version 2 to reduce the price and remove some of the "extra" features on the bag.

General Talk / Re: Kayak cleaner« on: July 14, 2023, 09:45:07 PM »
After a good cleaning I like to use 303 Protectant.... Keeps the yak looking nice and clean, noticed that grime comes off much easier and get very little staining. Haven't used any of the other 303 products but definitely like the Protectant!

Hobie Kayaks / Re: Amazon Hobie Idler Cable« on: July 12, 2023, 02:59:10 PM »Same cables as my Shearwater 125. I have noticed that you need to make sure to have these dry with the peddles facing up to prevent water from collecting in the chain to cable piece and rusting. it's like a cup, hold water and is the weak spot. I have had a couple break while out on the water. I carry two sets of cable and tooling for on the water replacements, which is alot of fun Also NOT a Hobie Mirage Drive but a Vibe X-drive. Pretty much the same thing just 1/2 the $ and could use either. Same dimensions. Plug and play. My buddy runs Hobie cables on his vibe x-drive 13

Replaced it from my stock pile and hit the water. 1st idler I've replaced. vs 2 to 3 drive cables. Went through a couple before finding the trick of letting them dry with fins up ![]() 14
