Thanks for the explanation, I'm going to give this fish drying and preserving a try. Makes sense that it would concentrate the flavor and freeze better with less moisture in the meat.

Thanks for the double Mendo reports Paul!

I'm also interested in the salted dried fish, done it with halibut eggs but that's it, what's the process? Freezing rockfish and lingcod just doesn't do it for me.

Wow still has the little plastic feet on the kickstand, very few miles on that for sure!

That's right they came with two really nice tie down straps, wore those out.

Thanks for the pointer Al! What I don't understand from the picture is how the kayak is secured to the cart. Does it just sit on top or does it come with some cross straps?

As for the hobie wheels hack, I've seen some video, but still looked quite laborious to me, but given the price for a new cart, might be worth a shot  :smt003

You run a kayak tie down strap around one of the bars on one side over the top of your yak and around the same bar on the other side then connect and cinch the two ends on top.

Don't be fooled by others, get the one Al posted, I paid that same price over ten years ago and mine is still going strong. If you do this long in the end that's what your gonna get anyways!

I heard from a ranger type at point Molate that there was a plan for smolt release in the the Pinole region of SF Bay.  Where would I locate such tasty rumors? :smt006

I remember hearing about that as well about ten years ago they had been doing that and apparently the striped bass and birds caught on and it just became a yearly feeding rather than a release.....tasty rumor or?

Took me ten years to catch one legal Salmon, doubt I'll get another one in a two day window and if they're that threatened it seems kinda wrong. However given kayaks can launch many places it takes boats a fair bit of time to get to, the short window and boaters tendency to bunch up especially when going for salmon there is likely to be some ocean space left between the clumps of boats.

Dang Eric what can't you do? Now I want to watch it again!

Enjoyed the Video as always Moo, thanks for spending the additional time and energy to film and produce these on top of what it takes just to get out and kayak fish. Often I can't go fishing and have to live the life through everyone's post and videos.

For Sale / Re: Used Stealth ProFisha 475

I have the 465. It works great for me but at some point if it gets damaged or I win the lottery I will likely buy a new one. Perhaps I'll even be looking for new old stock unless there really is an advantage to the newest of the new which I kinda doubt.

Very nice!  it's like my kayaks slightly larger twin.

What's the difference between this Pro Fisher and the basic Evolution?  Is it made from different materials and lighter?

CA Regulations / Re: Any shore fishermen here?
« on: April 05, 2025, 07:19:24 PM »
Trebel hook is considered a single hook by the regulations

I don't like trebles hard to remove from a fish you want to release and harder to remove from your hand or whatever part of you body you might accidently stick with it.

Ill get my registration in soon. Can't wait for some Shelter! I got site 80 again this year. I'm arriving Wednesday afternoon if anyone is pre fishing Thursday/Friday.

I’ll be there Thursday for some Friday pre fishing.

Hoping for decent conditions, Mark L, Jake and I will be fishing Friday as well.

Only one custom t-shirt color requested so far...

So guess everyone likes the blue.

I'm considering black but still can't decide, when you're out on a sunny day it's nice to have a light color.....tan might be good.
