For Sale / sizes
« on: January 21, 2024, 12:23:17 PM »
Thanks for adding size chart! That said i think you may be referring to European size in terms of 5 XL and 6 XXL, should be US 5 Large and 6 Xtra Large.

https://www.mares.com/en_US/sizechart-diving-wetsuit-5-man

Please refer to chart and or better yet get fit. These are somewhat fragile and can tear easily so you don't want to 'manhandle' them too much.

Kayak Fly Fishing / Shout Out to Lamson Fly Fishing
« on: January 05, 2024, 05:21:54 PM »
Just want to shout out to the customer service at Lamson Fly Fishing (rods and reels) Idaho
I have broken two of their rods this past year, both my own fault, and Lamson has replaced the broken sections for $50 each in both cases no questions asked. I did have to send the whole rod back in to them but within a week in both cases got rods back with new sections ready to go.

General Talk / Sunday Nov 12 HMB coastal emergency???
« on: November 12, 2023, 06:55:20 PM »
Was surfing HMB today about noon and firetrucks showed up in front of Miramar looking out with binoculars. A bit later the coast guard copter showed up. I could see several kayaks in the bay and watched the harbor patrol boat approach each of them...assuming to ask if ok or emergency. So, thinking there may have been a kayak or other emergency call from out in the bay???
Always interested in what goes wrong so if any info please share.

On another note, I was on my boat several miles out on Thursday to have a guy come on the radio and ask for help getting in....but not emergency. I was over 30 minutes away so suggested getting on 16 if really needed assistance. Maybe with tide coming out and headwind it got tough.

Welcome to the site.

Appreciate your adventurous spirit.

A few years ago when I was crabbing heavy  out of Pillar Point there were two brothers i would see at old pier launch site that would drop pots and fish off SUPS...they had those nice super sized models. I haven't see a lot of there SUP fishing but that leaves plenty of room for you.

Welcome Heather

Hopefully you'll get inspired and make some of your own adventures!

You have Lake Almanor and what water is left in the local reservoir to play on and then maybe try some salt water. Guide 'Loleta' Eric up in Shelter Cove might be worth checking out.

be safe and have fun

General Fishing Tips / Re: What are you're favorite sabiki rods
« on: July 22, 2022, 02:03:17 PM »
I also have a dedicated Saki stick like you show on Amazon. It's AWESOME....hardly ever a tangle, sakis last much longer, etc.

ADVICE, buy the 8 foot, with a 7 you may have to shorten pre bought sakis so it all fits inside. They run best with a bait caster reel since it's a tight line angle going into the rod. Light braid like 10lb also helps the system work more smoothly.

Yeah two rods may sound like KISS but if you do any sabiki then having the dedicated rod will actually be more simple and productive since you don't have to make change overs and you can immediately get out if bait around....you'll use it much more with much less frustration

Well as you can see I'm a fan, honestly not sure why not more popular, hey to each his own.

Welcome.

Do you have a kayak or just interested in the fishing scene in general?

For shore fishing bay can be tricky and frustrating but with some knowledge you can have some good fun Striper fishing. You may also want to try Surf Perch from any coastal beach.

Have fun.
