If anybody wants to join me for a section of today's run PM me your number and I will call you when I leave my house...

We are doing a 10-12 minute mellow pace so you could figure out how long it would take us to get to any point on the course.

Company welcome!

Sincerely,

Jim

Tough run today...the sun was strong on the way out and I probably went out a little faster than I should have and didn't drink enough liquids...paid the price on the way back, but stuck with it, didn't walk and didn't get hurt so it's all good.

Also...forgot to slap on the Sport Shield and starting chafing around mile 8 in some, er, not so fun areas...bad day to forget the lube!!

Exciting game between dem Saints and the 49ers!! I'm sure you had a blast with good friends and family. I'm sorry to hear that some 49ers fans were very rude and disrespectful, especially a woman!!

As for the shirt, I think it's real sweet. But I think a lil too tight eh?  :smt044

Three weeks left to get ready!!  :smt009 :smt002 :smt003 :smt005 :smt044

Did a nice 4 mile trail run with Ana and Valentina last night, gonna hit the weights today, and tomorrow (9/29) gonna do some hill work.

This is a NICE steady, 2-3 mile climb if anybody wants to join!!

If you still have gas in the tank after the first 9 miles you can do the 4.8 mile loop from the LightHouse to the back of Natural Bridges and back...I'm gonna start with the 9 and see how I feel...hills have been my nemesis in the past and I don't want to get hurt now!!

If interested send me a PM and I will text you when we are leaving my house...ETA at the LightHouse will be approx 5:15ish...

Company welcome!!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

Had a nice steep 9 mile run by myself yesterday...my two other Team Mooch members were at a Migrant Education conference over in Fresno...

Kinda dug running solo at my own, slow, pace....similar to fishing alone, it is nice to have some space every now and again... :smt004

The hills weren't so bad and I regained some confidence in my hill running abilities....

Couple more long "dress rehearsal" runs (thinking 18 and 20 miles maybe) and I am gonna call it quits on the training.

Only 17 days left!! Would rather go in a little undertrained, then try and push it and hurt myself before the race!!  :smt009

If anybody is in the SF area, here is a map of the course (with cross streets for each mile)....the race begins at 7am in Union Square....the finish is at Great Highway at Lincoln:

http://inside.nike.com/blogs/nikerunning_events-en_US/2010/03/15/nwm-2010-course-map

I am thinking I will need the most support in the second half once I am tired and after running the majority of the hills in the first half...and making sure I don't wuss out and quit with the folks running the Half-Marathon after 13.1 miles!!

 :smt002 :smt003 :smt005 :smt044

I will be the slow guy with the beer belly showing in the skin tight black Team Mooch Jersey!!

 :smt005 :smt044 :smt005 :smt044 :smt005 :smt044

I am hoping to keep a nice mellow 12 minute pace throughout...this would put me at 13 miles at 2:36 (9:30amish) and finish around 5:25 (12:30noonish)...the last full I did I finished in 4:45 but I had trained A LOT more so am sure I will be quite a bit slower....

Anybody who finds me after I finish and brings me a cold beer or six will have my never ending gratitude!!  :smt002 :smt003

After the race I will be heading back to the hotel where Ana and I will be staying and will be sipping on beverages and chilling for the rest of the day!! Will post up what hotel it is once I know, and maybe I can meet up with some of you all in the lobby bar!!

Live Life!!!

Team Mooch!!

What's your poison?

After 26.1 miles...anything cold and wet!!!!!!

LOL!!!!

In an ideal world, a sixer of cold Modelo Especial cans would be amazing...or Coors Light!!

Looking forward to seeing you on the 16th Joel....you are gonna be blown away by the Inspiration Dinner!!!

Well...ready or not, the race is in two days!!!

I didn't get as many over 15 mile runs in as I would have liked, but did get a fair amount of hill work done, so am confident that will be able to hang in there and complete the full 26.2 miles....

May be going veerrryyyy slow by the end, but the goal for me is to finish, not get a certain time.

 :smt004

Ana and I are gonna do some personalization of our race jerseys tonight and will be writing the names of people we are running in honor/memory of on the back...

If you want me to put anybody's name in particular on my jersey and to carry them with me throughout the race, please just send me a PM!

If anybody is up in SF and wants to come out and cheer me on, here is the map:

http://nikerunning.nike.com/nikeplus/us/v2/en_US/pdf/Nike_Womens_Marathon_2010_Course_map.pdf

The Purple TNT cheer stations are where I have gone in the past to cheer my wife on, and also at the Finish line.

Will need the most amount of support/encouragement in the second half for sure!!

 :smt009 :smt044 :smt004

Post race I will be watching the Raiders beat the Niners on TV, and numbing my sore muscles with cold beverages at the Parc 55 hotel...if you want to stop by and say hi, my cell is 661-204-4933

http://www.parc55hotel.com/

I am honored to be running this event for Mooch and for all other NCKA members fighting cancer, or who have loved ones who are fighting/have fought Cancer....

I will do my best to make you proud.

Sincerely,

Jim

Best of luck to you and Ana on Sunday. Well actually, I don't think Ana needs it as much as you do brother so good luck to you Jim  :smt044

To be sincere, both you and Ana have such a tremendous kind heart to the way you both welcome people to all the noble causes that you both contribute to. I'm lucky to have you both in my life.

Have fun this Sunday, I'm sure there'll be many beers for ya afterward :D
