Crappy conditions with mixed chop, windy, wet, was tired and my feet got cold. One smallish striper was all I could manage. Caught over twenty nice topsmelt the evening before with high hopes of limits but ended up released all but three in fine shape back at the ramp.

Was really nice to be back on land with the food and music and meet up again with some old and new fishing buddy's (congratulations Cody!). Anyways thanks Keith and Crew for a great event and see you guys on the water!

Conditions were pretty rough for ARW standards and the Lynx with its high seat and constantly shifting Mabel made me head for the inside of the wall towards the end to do the relief-kneel move over Hobie hole.
I got my PB 4’ Leopard Shark and while dealing with its never ending rolls and Mabel and waves, my gaff went over the edge and sunk like a rock. Then when I did get a decent (28”?)halibut boat-side I had to use the net, which captured the treble before the fish was in. Well you know how that ends - heartbreak.

I get it with the dog shifting weight and my dog is smaller than yours but they certainly can affect the handling of the yak in choppy water.

Was a great morning on the water considering the windy conditions. On the water by 6:40 AM peddled out with my buddy Adam. Wind was coming straight at us and the ramp. Made it out past the sailboat and the wind laid down for a a little while giving us a nice window of good fishing conditions. Adam was the 1st one to land a Hali, a shaker but he got the Crown for 1st to land a fish between us.  Unfortunately for him that was his only fish for the day. Adam had a couple more big bites but nothing stuck.

I had my 1st bite and keeper around 9, not huge but a keeper at 23". Thought about releasing to size up but made that mistake last year, never sized up and went home without dinner. Of course the 1st Hali hit as I was shedding some layers as the sun came out. So that made for a fun couple of minutes. Managed to zip and buckle everything back on then successfully net the fish. My second Hali came 20 minutes later. Big takedown no head shakes, just weight. Slowly reeled it in grabbed the net and managed to land it. Not a beast but measured out at 25.5" 7.56 lbs, limits for the day!!

Stuck with Adam until around 11:30am hoping to watch him land some flatties but never came. Tournament was called early as the wind and waves had picked up making some unsafe conditions. Of course as we where heading in Adam had his biggest takedown of the day day but did not stick.

Thanks to Keith and all the volunteers and sponsors! It was a great tournament and look forward to fishing with you all again!

Had a ton of fun, but man it was rough conditions! I was too scared to join the tournament this year, but I will sign up for sure next year!
