I have 4 one-gallon jars of salted fish - mostly herring and sardine - that I intended to make into garum, but I have a lifetime supply of the stuff now and would rather give it to someone who wants to try their hand at filtering their own. These have been aging for about 18 months and are ready to filter.

Anyone interested? I'll walk you through how to do it.

I would like to get the jars back, though, FYI. The bottles in the pic are not available, just there to show what the final product looks like.

Let me know if you're interested.

I would like to but don't think my wife will like it  :smt003. Thanks for the generous offer.

It doesn't smell if that's your concern. In fact it has a really nice aroma. I added rosemary to a couple of the batches.
But I understand.

Had to google "garum" and I still don't think I really understand it. Maybe give us an idea what one uses Garum for?
It says its a Phoenician condiment.. I called my friend in Phoenix and told her I could get some 18 month old salted herring and she hung up on me....

Very tempting . I am all the way down in Salinas. Would be very interested in learning the process. If you can save a bottle I would gladly pick it up on my way up to you, on my way to an event . If you're interested in getting rid of them sooner, understandable. :smt001

Happy to give you a small bottle if you're ever passing through.
I might go ahead and filter this stuff on my own.

Thank you Sir. Maybe you will have time for a beer or coffee so you can enlighten me on the process. Hope to see you sooner than later.  Will keep in touch .:smt001
