General Talk / Re: 30 MPH Winds On a Lake

That looked pretty bad to be in with the waves being so evenly spaced and timed it was just pounding him the whole time. Looked rough clinging to his boat getting rocked on the rocky shore. If his battery had gotten damaged, I wonder what he would do then.  Glad he got back safe.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: VHF Radio Setup
« on: November 13, 2024, 10:10:14 AM »
If your lonely play around and setup scanning between 68, 69, 11, 9 and catch a lot of boaters and harbor traffic.  But like others I usually lock on 69 and maybe change squelch and volume.  The button in the lower left that says 16/s hit that if you need to use it to switch to 16 immediately (and back).  Learn the basics of VHF radios and how to make a call in an emergency, know the difference between PAN PAN and MAYDAY, and how to give your position.

It will be really cool to see her rigged and try to keep up with you on the water  :smt003. I've could really use a mast adapter, I'd like to have something like a 3ft pole I can drop in the mast hole.  I envision stretching ridge line tarp from front to rear for the sunny and rainy days.

System wont let me reserve anything, although it seems someone was able to?

I plan to shore fish the EBParks this winter as much as possible.

Nice limit! Thanks for sharing.
I want to try crabbing from the kayak, do you think starting with 2 pots is reasonable? Do you also fish while soaking the traps?
So do you know what the regulations are for crabbing? The wording of your question has me wondering if you know what the gear restrictions are?

I bought a used kayak, the previous owner had drawn a ruler directly onto the hull with a sharpie. it's not quite as accurate as a board but it's one fewer thing to worry about losing!
There's a guy I met that has a tattoo on his arm in three places, at his wrist, then at 18" and 22"  :smt044

However if your into playing our NCKA Angler of the Year, you have to submit photo's of your fish on an approved measuring board for the fish to be approved, so cant use a sharpie or a tattoo  :smt002

I want in on next year too!  :smt006

Well done getting a limit!  I swear that almost every year the forecast says the opener will be bad, but then it's not.   :smt044

I would add a measuring device

I've been trying to think of a way to mount a measuring board somehow in my kayak.
I've felt the same way, i've had my board slip and be hard to manage with a fish sometimes out in the swell.  Your question sparked an idea that think I'll try out!  I have some flat magnets I can add to the board and the topside of my kayak so i will stay in place when I pull it out.

No TI, but I’ve got a couple of AIs and 3 trailers
I wonder when your finally going to get a TI.  Either that, or build the first ever AI Catamaran out of both your AI's  :smt044
