"Passengers aboard the National Geographic Endurance came across the fin whales foraging near Antarctica—the biggest congregation of baleen whales seen in more than a century."

Been watching as possible between storms, been coming up quickly.
The docks at both ends are floating. Corps O Eng launched a boat on South end today. K-Rails are still blocking access. Saw a couple of SinK paddlers had just returned from an outing.

General Talk / Plumbers/Remodelers Question: Bathtubs
« on: September 30, 2022, 05:46:07 PM »
I am looking to remodel a bathroom in my house and need a new tub.
There are many companies with many models offered, (webpages) but there are very few displays (big box and specialty stores) with more than a couple units. They have them stocked in a warehouse, but are not at the stores where you can physically see them.

I want to actually see them to make the decision. Anybody here know of a place where you can see them either on display or in a warehouse?

I am willing to go anywhere in the Sac Valley, Bay Area or down to Monterey if needed.

Thanks in advance!

“According to fishermen, marine biologists, ocean lifeguards, and just about anyone else in a position to know anything about the matter, there are more sharks around than at any time in at least the past half-century.“

While jigging for rockfish in about 100’ straight out at Albion yesterday, my buddy Joe felt a bump, then thought he was stuck on some rocks. It came free and then up, curly tail jig still on but pulled down the hook some.

Additionally, he had on the smallest fish he’s ever brought up from the ocean. Coloring looks like Lingcod, really large pec fins proportionally, and he said the skin felt rough like it might be scales. What say our fish scientists?

Planning on trying the Westport area to fish off the rocks.

Does anyone have any location/bait tips they would be willing to share here or via PM if you’d prefer it?

I haven’t been up there in many years and have no recall. TX!

The underwater filmmaker Ron Elliott describes what he’s learned from his encounters with sharks near the Farallon Islands.

By Bonnie Tsui

Sept. 29, 2021

"In the muffled quiet, a steady inhale-exhale. A shadow, then a flash of silver. Then the elusive subject of fascination makes its silent, gliding approach, emerging in full: the great white shark.

When the underwater filmmaker Ron Elliott dives beneath the surface, this suspended moment of magic is what he’s after.

I first met Ron more than a decade ago, several years after he had begun documenting the undersea world of the Farallon Islands, the remote, saw-toothed crags some 30 miles off the coast of San Francisco. The Ohlone people called them the Islands of the Dead; 19th-century sailors called them the Devil’s Teeth. The Farallones sit at the western point of Northern California’s “Red Triangle,” where large numbers of great white sharks come to feed on seals and sea lions in the fall and winter months."

I am looking for an Ugly Stik Tiger Casting Rod - 6'-6". medium action, one-piece. My local store is out of them and many online retailers show them out of stock or backordered.

Anybody know of a shop/store that has them or does anyone have a gently used one they wish to sell?
