General Fishing Tips / New Melones Kokanee Tips?
« on: March 06, 2025, 03:13:15 PM »
I'm thinking about going out to New Melones to hunt for Kokanee.  Anyone have experience on what part of the lake to shore fish and what gear to use?  All my rods, besides my fly gear, are too heavy, wouldn't make the occasional rainbow much fun.  So I was thinking about trying to cast a hoochie like a streamer or something I could return from one of my lighter fly rods.  Is there room to fly cast?  Is that a ridiculous idea?  Should I find a bass rod with a casting or spinning reel?  LMK!  Thanks!

For Sale / Hobie Revolution 13 *sold*

Love this kayak.  Got the same one in the sand color so Im letting this one go.  Stored inside my sea container so its nice and clean.  It has four YakAtack 12 and two 8 rails with full backing plates.  I upgraded the lines with super durable kitesurfing string.  Comes with the comfy lawn chair Hobie seat, Hobie paddle, Hobie ST fins (brand new) and a Hobie scupper cart.  Im located in Boulder Creek, asking $1500 $1400 $1350 $1300.  Get psyched for squid season!!  Thanks NCKA!

Edit:  theres also a Scotty mount for a down-rigger installed in the right hand mesh cubby.

For Sale / OK Trident 13 *price reduced to $650*
« on: April 27, 2024, 08:46:32 PM »
After many, many years of paddling, I am now a pedaller.  Wasnt expecting to like the change as much as I do, so selling this trident is tough, lots of great days otw in this rig.  I fished a trident with Rob Yuan in Hawaii and I really think these boats are a fantastic setup for paddle based kayak fishing.

Camo coloration.  Center hatch with bins.  Lawn chair style seat.  Will include a 4 rod/net/gaff holder I made for it.

Id say its a solid 8.7/10 for a used boat.  Very clean overall.  Inside of hull is clean and doesnt smell weird.  Minimal scratches on the bottom, no major gouges.  Some rub marks here and there but not anything that removed material.  Always stored in my sea container.

Im located in Boulder Creek if youre interested in checking it out.

Having difficulty posting pictures from my phone.  Can jump on a desktop tomorrow and add images.  Or pm me your phone number and Ill send some.

Pics added!

Wanted To Buy / Revo 13 or 16
« on: June 07, 2023, 02:08:40 PM »
How come Hobies color options are only orange and chartreuse?  What happened to the sand/grey option?

In other news:

If you have a dune/sand/grey color 2017ish Revo 13 or 16 in good shape that you’d like to part with, let me know!  [emoji1688][emoji1688]

General Talk / Trawling

Please educate me on trawling in the Monterey Bay.  I picked up some oysters and was surprised to see rockfish and Petrale Sole at H&H caught using trawling methods.

For Sale / Free 4”” nylon strap sections
« on: November 19, 2022, 04:15:06 PM »
Have a few sections of heavy duty 4 nylon strap I scored from a job Ive been on.  Straps were used to hoist modular sections of a home onto its foundation and discarded afterward.  I used a bit of it to make a couple kayak cradles, used zip ties to join the ends, worked well and I thought someone else could find some kind of useful purpose before I throw it away.  Im in Boulder Creek, let me know if youd like to meet up.
