Thank you Sailfish and Eric!  I just knew NCKA would step up - THANK YOU!!  Volunteers!  I will provide them a list of who helped last year, however please do not hesitate to reach out to them and let them know if you are able to help again this year!!  Your assistance is invaluable to the success of the event  :smt054

Eric - sometime between now and then, let's connect to get you the Gyotaku stuff.

Thanks!
Brandi

Hello fellow NorCal Kayak Anglers,

I need assistance. My only nephew and also the first nephew/niece to graduate high school is happening on May 16th and Aunt Brandi plans to be there!  Unfortunately, that means I will not be at GS :(  The Gyotaku Extravaganza! is an integral part of this event and needs to continue.  Who all might be interested in coordinating it this year?  I have all the stuff to make it happen, will give you all the info about the event, there are dedicated volunteers to assist you and I will be back next year. It is a lot of fun! Please let me know ASAP!

Thank you all for your consideration!!

Wind nor pouring rain stopped us!   Campground owner Jack allowed us to set up in the Pavillion providing us a sheltered and roomy space to print fish and have room for anyone not fish printing to enjoy their lunch while watching TV.  As the GS tournament was cancelled (good call Eric!), we set up earlier and extended the time for people to create art.  Gratitude goes out to my rock star Team Gyotaku Extravaganza volunteers Christine, Scott, Lawana and Trina all stayed to assist throughout (three of the four volunteers even came over the hill just to help out with this event!) and to Codzilla/Jeff & Hojoman/Howard who bring tables for me to use for the event. And this event is not complete with out participants. All ages of kids showed up from 7 month old to ??? to participate in the event - and art was made! Thank you all for participating! A HUGE thank you to those who purchased shirts and gave donations to help with supply costs to keep this event going!  Finally, thanks to Eric and Jack who are incredibly supportive of this event every year.

If you were not able to join us this year either as a participant and/or volunteer, there is always next year!!

Ever present Hojoman captured most if not all of the participants and their fish prints. Scott, Eric and myself captured some images when we were able.

I only captured a few images and stoked you, HoJoMan and Eric took photos.  Here is the link to my images.  I will repost this info to the Gyotaku thread.  https://www.facebook.com/brandi.easter/media_set?set=a.10218013633506964&type=3

Thanks again for making the journey to help out with the Gyotaku Extravaganza!  MUCH appreciated!!

Great bunch of people! Adverse conditions made it quite an adventure. Didn't bring the kayaks this year but came over to help with the Gyotaku and had a great time. Love the looks on the peoples faces when they pulled their paper or shirts off the fish! "Wow, that turned out neat!". Great to see old friends and make some new ones. Crash suggests: Id encourage people keeping Friday fish for gyotaku to ikejime their fish to stave off rigor. As I recall fish in rigor don’t make as nice of a print.

See you all there!

With the weather being such as it is, will there still be a Gyotaku Extravagnza??

A resounding YES!

More information and updates about the event will be announced at Friday's meeting.

Hi People bidding on the room!

Unfortunately I am in no financial position to place an honorable bid on the available room. HOWEVER if the winning bidder is up for/willing to share costs with one person (me & no pets), please let me know. I have my own cot so no issues on who get a bed  :smt003.  It is going to be challenging enough for me to set up for the Gyotaku Extravaganza in the rain let alone camp in it.

Thanks for the consideration,
Brandi

I did not have everyone's contact info who helped out last year.  Appreciate you reached out!

It is up to you if you would like to bring blank shirts and take home what is not used.  I believe we only have white blank kids shirts - and maybe on the small side.  Yours would help compliment.

Thanks!
Brandi

Hi Brandi,  my wife helped out a little last year, and said she could help out again this year.

We also have a bunch of various colored/sized blank kids t-shirts.  Would you like us to bring them up in case there aren't enough of the official gyotaku shirts to go around?

Thanks for volunteering Dave!

Yes, rain or shine the event will happen. Wind, which will not only challenge fish printing efforts but could take out the event tent again, cancels.

Looking forward to it.  I'll be there volunteering!

Thank you, Dave!  And thanks too to Brandi and all of her volunteers - we need you!

It'll happen - rain or shine.   :smt001

Hi Everyone,

Looks like we may get some rain Saturday but we have an event tent that will keep majority of the wetness off of us.  I am still planning on having the Gyotaku Extravaganza as long as it is not too windy and conditions allow for an enjoyable & creative fish printing experience for all (and my volunteers are still willing).  I will update at the Friday meeting.

See you all at the Cove!

About 8 days until you all can have fun fish printing your catches!

Still looking for a few more volunteers!  Thanks!

Great work, Brandi.  Numbers may be down this year based on how many people are signed up so far.  It's definitely hard to plan an event when you don't know how many people are coming or contributing.  Hang in there, and we will know much more about how many people will attend in 2 weeks.   :smt001

Based on your posts first page, looks like we have a good size group coming to GS - and given the location where we will be holding the event (in front of the campground office) and possibly having some SC community members join in, I am thinking we will definitely need a few more volunteers.

All, if you are interested in being apart of the Gyotaku Extravaganza, please PM me!  Thank you!

Who wants to be on Team Gyotaku Extravaganza?!

Broken record but very true - This event does not happen without the help of volunteers - especially since more and more people come to print fish! Yeah!

Some of my seasoned volunteers are unable to join us this year and some I have not yet heard back from.  Needless to say, I am in desperate need of help for this event.  Yes, you can show up after you get off the water.  Yes, you can leave early to prepare something for the potluck.  We are flexible!  Send me a PM or email me TheGWTC@yahoo.com or call 707-822-4815 to let me know you want to help out.

Thank you!!
