Not sure if you went yet, but google Kiddie Beach Channel Islands harbor. Super easy launch with no waves. Just paddle out to the breakwall and fish. Normally its better on the outer side of the breakwall but if its too rough you can fish the inside of the wall. I would usually use a 3" or 4" Big Hammer and just swim it back or drop it in the pockets. You can usually catch some small Calicos or Sandbass, brown rockfish, or the occasional cabezon. The other spot to fish is just off of Hollwyood beach and drift for halibut. I would usually use a drop shot set-up and just slowly bounce the bait when drifting.
You can also launch out of Ventura Harbor at the public launch and again fish the breakwall.
