Visiting Mendocino today and saw this Jackson kayak on top of a pile of driftwood down a cliff in the bay.  It would be quite a task to get it out.

Recipes / Looking for Fish Head Soup Recipe
« on: August 13, 2017, 09:30:31 PM »
Shuland had an amazing Burmese fish head soup at Albion on Sunday morning and didn't think to ask for the recipe.  Does anyone have a good fish head soup recipe they are willing to share?  I have a cab head and trimmings and want to try my hand at making it taste good.

General Talk / Hot Rods We've Had
« on: March 11, 2017, 04:55:57 PM »
I was feeling nostalgic today about some of the cars I've owned.
When I was in college (late 60s, early 70s) I rebuilt a couple of Austin Healey 100-4's.  One had a very rare 100S engine that I sold to a collector.  As time went on, being young  and male, I wanted more power so started looking for a project car.  I bought an Austin Healey 100-6 that didn't have an engine and decided that was the car for my project.  About the same time I came across a 327cid Corvette engine to power the Healey.  It was a fairly easy conversion: weld on some new motor mounts, have custom exhaust headers with side pipes made up, a little change to the foot well to allow the wider engine to fit.
I decided a stock engine wouldn't do so I put in new Jahns pistons to get a compression of 11:1, put in a Racer Brown roller cam and added 2 4Bbl AFB's for carburation.  The biggest street tires of the day were G70, 15's so I put those on. A Corvette T6 4 speed and a stock 4.12:1 rear end
When I started the thing up for the first time I was afraid to drive it.  :smt044 . My cousin pushed it out of the of the garage while I sat in the drivers seat with the engine running.  Cautiously and very slowly  let out the clutch and the car fish tailed down the street leaving smoke and 50 feet of rubber.  After a couple more trials I was able to manage it but it was too much a beast for me so I replaced the cam with a milder one and reduced the carbs down to one.  Could still get wheelies in first and second gear though  :smt044
What about your hot rods?
