I know most places in this area charge, Negro Bar,Beals, Rattlesnake,Sailor Bar. Looking to take the new kayak out after work on weeknights and paying to park every time could add up. Can anyone provide some tips on not only where to park and launch but fairly secure spots as well, so I don't come back with a smashed window?

Thanks in advance.

Introductions / New to kayak fishing
« on: August 04, 2016, 08:57:47 AM »
Hello everyone.

Father of two in Citrus Heights. I've really done more backpacking lately than fishing truth be told, occasionally fishing for Rainbow and Browns on certain trips. However, after a visit to the American River with my uncle (an avid fishermen) who visiting from out of town we saw not only folks kayaking but kayak fishing. He asked "Why don't you have one of those?" Damn good question I thought!

So this past weekend I purchased a Lifetime Tamarack Angler 120 at Big 5 for $200. Not the best kayak I know but it seems to be a good entry level kayak for someone like myself. Plus, it's fairly lightweight and fits in my truck bed.

I do have one question though? I would like to take it out and fish after work along the American, Natomas, Folsom areas since they are close to me. You have to pay to park in all the spots I know of to launch. That could get quite pricey fast. Are there spots to launch that you don't have to pay?

Thanks!
