Some of us (Low Cal) kayak guys are putting the notes together and throwing our heavier gear on a "stand up- rod on the rail" 5 day trip from San Diego into the badlands August 14-19th on the Searcher. It's a 5 day trip and cost $1495.  I was invited and wonder so how bad, terrible and uneventful could it be? :smt012  I have fished in kayaks with a third of the manifest so far and thought it would be a good idea to spread the love towards mi hermanos de la Norte!  I have never fished the "Searcher" before however Josh Rider aka (Yakrider) has been 3 times and swears by it along with others.  I think I read tonight that Accurate folk originally chartered the trip.
Kayak fisherman are USUALLY cool to roll with so think about an August trip now.  Down low.  Low Cal out. :smt001

Tomorrow is the last day we have to say goodbye to Malibu and La Jolla because of the MLPA.
I found out how to get at those White Seabass ear stones.  :smt007
Happy New Year anyway!   :smt006

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Asilomar help needed
« on: December 23, 2010, 11:07:12 PM »
Hey Y'all.  First I want to say Merry Christmas and Happiest of Holidays to you!
I just got married and will be attending a family reunion in Asilomar just after Christmas for a few days.
I can't bring my kayak and speargun but was wondering about the surf fishing.
Question...  Should I bring a flyrod/spinning outfit to fish the surf?
Should I bring a shovel to clam?
Should I just chill out and focus on my family as they drag me away from the aquarium?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! :smt006

General Talk / Who shot dove on today's opener?
« on: September 01, 2010, 04:15:58 PM »
We did ok in Bakersfield but first got chased off a beautiful black eyed pea patch and field by a farm hand.
It was not posted and scouted nicely the week before.  Dove started flying late but just when the fun started,
we had to reset 15 miles north.  This new spot rocked on a corner of almonds and open field.
Anyone else hit it?
Hope you did well.   :smt006

I threw this condor footage I took at Tejon together last night.
It's not my best work but enjoy anyway!
