General Talk / Feel good story fo the year for me. (Decade?)
« on: April 16, 2021, 05:55:12 PM »
Stunning news for the Bushnell family. My younger brother Christopher and his (then) wife adopted a baby back in the 80's.  Emy was from Korea, and we all love her just like all the rest of the neices and nephews in my large clan.  this story came out recently. Turns out she had an identical twin who was adopted out to a family in Florida at the same time.  No idea why these infants were separated.  Emy had NO idea she had a sister, a twin, and IDENTICAL!   Her daughter did a DNA test. When the lost sister did a DNA test the results told her she had a duaghter....But she never had given birth.  Mystery was quickly solved and the two met in person for the first time at th end of March. Pull out the tissues!

General Talk / New weather Buoy in Santa Cruz- Great Data shallow water
« on: January 14, 2021, 10:12:42 AM »
The NOAA buoys used to forecast wind, waves and swell is like, 20 miles oout in the midddle of Monterey BAy.  REquires just a bit of extrapolation to take that info and make your prediction on what the nearshore area might be like, conditions-wise.

Here's a new buoy  thatt supplies real time data right at Steamer Lane in 66 FOW.   I am findingit veryhelpful.

A long-time good friend who I mostly see down in the willows, or the remote holes within the cold wet  winter San Lorenzo Gorge is Cal Piccolo.  He's a master rod builder and fanatic fisherman like me and you.  Volunteers every year tons of effort and time at the Sand Crab Classic and for steelhead trapping and whatever else might be needed for Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Project. Two kids and a wife and until this summer a placid perfect life.

The CZU fire wiped him out.......Happy to see our friend Mike Baxter got a Go Fund Me up for Cal and his family.  I'm hoping that NCKA can come through, even in the smallest contribution, to help get back on an even keel.

Thank you my brothers and sisters.

General Talk / NCKA HERO (ine)
« on: June 08, 2020, 05:32:45 PM »
Everyone has probably heard about the tragic shooting death of our Santa Cruz County Sheriff supervisor last weekend.  I have dealt with Sgt. Damon Gutzwiller, and he really was one of the BEST.  On a side note big NCKA honors and thank you's to Clara Ricabal, NCKA member, who assisted in apprehending and holding the murder suspect prior to offical law enforcement arrival.  Clara you are truly a hero, who knows how many lives you may have saved on Sunday.  Thank you for your bravery!!

Yup.  We're opening entries for the 2020 Derby.  We limit entries to 300 anglers. Last year we filled up in 30 hours!  NCKA's get a leg up on the general public.  Those that are familiar with the Sand Crab Classic need no more info.  those that aren't familiar can look at the Facebook Page, and/or the SCC Website

https://www.facebook.com/sandcrabclassic/

If it were me I'd be paying particularly close attention this afternoon.........  Or Monday

For Sale / ~SOLD~Beautiful T-13 with EVERYTHING ~SOLD
« on: November 30, 2019, 07:22:20 PM »
1000.

Need to sell this quick to generate cash for an awesome 1970 Triumph TR25W to help satisfy my artistic motorcycle restoration jones.
I'm cash strapped and this may be the only chance I ever have to snag the little Triumph of my dreams

I need 1400 OBO for this boat.  Comes with seat,  medium wetsuit, PFD, paddle, leash, safety flag, milk crate, Huminbird 598 FF/GPS and a few other goodie accesories, including a full Kayak cover so it can be stored outside.

This is almost perfect condition with hardly any scratches on the bottom at all, unlike all my other boats!

Gotta go NOW though.  I can deliver in the BAy area, or PU in Santa Cruz.
