General Talk / Petcoke Pollution
« on: March 03, 2022, 10:23:58 AM »
https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2021/10/25/environmental-whistleblower-sets-off-probe-into-illegal-discharge-of-petcoke-at-port-of-benicia/

This nonprofit org San Francisco Bay Keeper filed a law suit against the polluters this week:
https://lawstreetmedia.com/news/agriculture/sf-baykeeper-sues-water-discharging-businesses/

My family loves to eat fish from the bay but don't want to be eating heavy metals. I plan on donating $500 to SF Bay Keeper (my company matches my donation). Hopefully this lawsuit they are filing does something to stop these polluters.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / China camp today
« on: December 19, 2021, 04:55:34 PM »
Went out to china camp today, wasn’t planning on fishing today but figured why not after moving to Novato and being so close. Fished the outgoing tide from 11-3. Picked up some smallish ghost shrimp from Loch Lomond. Keith is really cool don’t see too many old school bait shops in the Bay Area like that. I ended up catching 2 small leopard sharks and 1 small striper. I had 2 other bites where they came off not sure what hit it. Was fishing pretty shallow around 10 ft, my fish finder broke so have been winging it. Hopefully I get a sturgeon next time.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Sonoma coast report
« on: August 01, 2021, 08:34:27 AM »
Fished for the first time on the kayak after month and a half out the game. My mirage drive spine broke, rudder wasn’t deploying and hatch had a pin falling out and all those issues took a while to fix. Good thing my 20 outback was under warranty. Fished with Scotty and the fishing started out slow. We got a couple rocks but really had to grind out there for the lings. The drift was super strong, it was hard to keep your bait on the bottom. The wind was also stronger than I expected but was manageable. Picked up my ling limit towards the end of the day on red big hammer swim baits. Also managed to score 6 rocks and 1 sand dab. Scotty saw a salmon jump out there I didn’t see any but might be worth a try.

I went crabbing and fishing yesterday on the Sonoma coast. Caught some Uni in my crab traps (that’s a first for me). When I cracked the purple Uni open the inside was black. Did I not eat them fast enough?

Ended the day with 5 rock fish caught a bunch more small guys, 4 dungies, and 1 rock crab. No lings :(

General Talk / Sai Rudder for new outback
« on: November 22, 2020, 06:52:56 AM »
If anyone is looking for a good rudder for 2019+ outback I would recommend SAI rudder. Much stronger than the plastic one it comes with. They also make fish finder mounts for the outback that work well. In the pics you will see the before bent up rudder photo and after with the XL rudder.
