Ok I was curious if the bag could be replaced if it couldn't be unstuck. I assume it is important in the event of a swamp etc. thanks ken

General Fishing Tips / Re: Easy fresh water for beginners

A couple good ideas. I notice that there is very little on trout and bass in the forum. Am I missing it or is everyone just happier in saltwater? Any ideas on good info for fishing the local freshwater? Ken

I've always wondered about those Sacramento Perch in Pena Adobe (Lagoon Valley), a small native fish not too abundant in our area anymore.

A friend used to go there to learn to windsurf, it's a smallish lake.

Post a hook up if you go there.

My wife tried kayaking there a while back and the lake is full of plant life. I don't know if it improves a different times of the year.

General Fishing Tips / Easy fresh water for beginners

I am looking for info for some easy fresh water fishing. I have a SIK that I plan to use for now. Also my father is considering getting a SOT kayak for fishing. He is 82 so I want to keep it simple and safe for him. He is considering something with a trolling motor. We live in the Napa Solano area. Can anyone suggest some good launching locations that are close to good fishing holes? Suggestions for still water fishing that doesn't require lots of paddling? Also how about ideas on using a SIK for fishing. Thanks Ken

Introductions / Hello everyone

I finally got my registration to work. I have been trying for almost a month but some kind of gremlin was messing things up. Thanks to Ricky and Polepole for the help. I have owned a kayak for a few months. It is an entry level Emotion Comet, my wife and I both have one. I am 51 and have not been fishing in many years. A long time ago I caught a couple sturgeon and a trout or two. Even though I don't have a kayak that is really suited to fishing, I would like to do what I can with it. Maybe some small lake and creek fishing. Eventually I would like to upgrade to a sit on top model. In fact I am working hard on winning the Malibu Stealth 12 on Paddling.net. I look forward to learning much about both fishing and kayaking. Thanks for a great forum. Ken
