The folks managing that hatchery are doing some innovative stuff, and it’s working. Good article below.

You can fish shallower than 50 fathoms, as long as you don’t have any RCG in posession, and you must release any RCG you catch.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: Wheeleez on sale at REI

The cart I received is slightly different than the oldschool version. The wheels are made of a different material. The frame appears to have narrower gage tubing, while also being slightly larger outside-diameter. The wheels barely slide onto the frame…I had to grease the axle to slide them on. Tried to slide my old wheelsonto the new frame—same issue. The luggage straps that came with the cart feel like better quality than the old straps, at least. Just a heads up.

You’re going to be in a good spot. My favorite section of the SLR is btwn the Garden of Eden and Paradise park. I normally access it from the hwy 9 side, but there are trails on the east side too. Personally, I would avoid the tribs like eagle ck & powdermill ck. The season opens Dec 1 nowadays. Wed, Sat, Sundays with barbless hooks (bait is allowed; locals often use shrimp) below Boulder Creek. You may find a few striped bass in the lagoon too.

Hey Al, my friend is selling a 2014 Tundra double cab. It has 146k miles with the 4.8ltr v8 and supposedly tows 10k lbs. It’s a decent deal at $17k. 6.5ft bed and lots of aftermarket parts.

This has been my dream trip ever since I was a little kid watching Bill Dance on tv in the Amazon, catching peacock bass.

Reading comments on the article, many people mentioned seeing thresher sharks jumping clear out of the water during the last 2 weeks…

Heck yeah, securing the stuffed animals and securing dinner. Thats a double dip! I love those whitefish. My favorite way to cook them is on the stovetop with lemon & capers…like chicken piccata style.

I like the idea of seperating crappie & other sunfish into 2 categories. Should we do that next year?

Thats funny Sonny was on the same trip. Some of the folks on the boat were from the Giant Kelp Restoration Project. When they posted about it on the Giant Kelp Restoration page on Facebook, they said the 3 SMCAs on the monterey peninsula should be turned into no-take SMRs…because fishing hurts the kelp. The Ricketts SMCA, Pacific Grove SMCA, and Carmel Bay SMCA allow recreational take of finfish (and commercial harvesting of kelp, ironically). I doubt their petition will gain any traction. But its something to keep an eye on.

Anything is possible! But there hasn’t been a single boat fishing off Monterey this whole week.

I stopped by the campground today and chatted with Cam. There are lots of open campsites available, so I didn’t reserve one. Price went up to $47/night. Cash only, reminder.

That thing looks badass. I remember checking out the first one you built and was super impressed with the quality.
