You may be surprised about California's non native fishes

If you want to increase salmon numbers remove the dams, prohibit logging, prohibit use of river waters for agriculture and city use, prohibit runoff of chemicals into rivers, etc.
I am not suggesting that those things should happen, just trying to give perspective.
When I was a kid down in the LA area I talked to an old timer who used to catch steelhead in the San Gabriel river.  No striped bass down there.

Good luck and happy times on your move Eric.  My wife and I immensely enjoyed our stays at the Inn with you and Verna as hosts.
While I do hope Alex continues to look for places for you to move to in the San Jose area I also hope he puts his eye back in  :smt003

But are they good to eat?

Maybe.

Fun fact: fried spider is a delicacy in Cambodia. Remove as much hair as you can, and don't eat the fangs. If you cook them, curled legs are an indicator of how done they are and how well cooked the insides are. One of the most common edible spiders is the Thai zebra spider, but it is venomous and aggressive

Ski Pro3-Jerry has talked about his cancer and treatment on this forum and a couple of weeks ago posted that he has contracted COVID.  Jerry is now in the hospital with  serious COVID symptoms and could use your prayers and positive thoughts.

Sorry about the capsize Sam.  I have fished there with you before when you caught some good fish.  There is always next time.

A very sad story.  I feel for his family.
When I was around that age I did all kinds of crazy shit that somehow I survived from.  Probably most of us did.  At 21 you are adventurous and largely unhindered by the consequences.

A bit of a threadjack,😀 any road biker here on ncka?  Got into road cycling 3 years ago and it’s been great. 🚲
Used to do it in the 90s.  150-200 miles a week.  A few century events and a couple of double centuries a year. I'm an old fart now though  :smt001

Great write up, John. It is like I was there.  Good thing he had you looking out for him.
