I'll bring my big ice chest filled with ice, in addition to the previously mentioned extra kayak + the gear to get a vet OTW and fishing, plus spares.

Hey Don, I was thinking we should probably have some greens, fruit and starch to balance out the meal. It can also get pretty damn hot down there so ice cold water, tea or soda would be good. Do you know what time they are coming yet? Is he cooking the ribs on the barbecue? How many ribs? How many people altogether? I can set-up my camp kitchen and make breakfast for the crew. What about dessert? I am getting hungry. I will think about things today at work and post up tonight.

Yes!!! :smt045

I'm thinking around a 100 total...

most Vets arriving 9ish...

  Waiting for your next post...

I can also bring an extra ez up if you need it.

bmb, yes, that would be good, thank you

All the rest sounds good too guys and we will wait and see on the food thing, couple things working...

just has to get a $100 handicap restroom out there, Hopefully the VA or HOW will help with that...  ouch!!!

Had to do it, the 2 sad portables out there are pretty bad, even though, the disabled vets did not complain,  the Therapist did!!!

Looks like we could use more volunteers so post up if ya like to help,

For sure Victor, You can ride down with me and Ron. My buddy Ron is a vet and he is going to come down and help. I have an easy up as well. Will bring food and ice chest. I may be able to do a collection with our local club to cover the porta potty cost. Let me know.

Victor, we will be coming down the 3rd and we will camp out that night.

That is really nice of you to offer and if ya want to help with food and stuff, donate what is comfortable....

The porta potty, well I would like to think that is to be kicked up to the VA or HOW National and we will do what we can, even if the VA, HOW and us kick in on it, cuts the cost down to size...

*another note...

This lake is catch and release... I'm thinking that there may be some who just want to bank fish... please bring spinner baits... these work pretty well out there and of course easy to use...  all hooks are to be barbless, just do what ya can on that with the spinner baits, but any worm hooks or crank baits have to be barbless...

sorry,my internet wasn't working last nite.  O.k I am thinking big ass green salad, buttload of cajun corn on the cobb, pasta salad of some sort, chips and my homemade salsas and of course, some sort of animal flesh or carcas. Can anyone volunteer to make a decent pasta salad in large quantity? I can also make breakfast burrittos in the am. We could also use volunteers to bring some desserts. I will post more ideas after work today.

Good reminder, Frank.    We need to keep our focus on the vets.  Check all egos on hwy 99 before you get to the ranch.

Roger-that Frank. I'll cancel the rum-cake. :smt003  I like the idea of potlucking this thing together.I believe there is a big wood/charcoal grill available on-site and i can bring my industrial camp kitchen with 3-burner griddle and assorted prep and serving equipment. It sounds like Don has some hotdogs and raydon some ribs. How many ribs? Do we need dryrub and sauce for the ribs? I have a great homemade dry-rub. If necessary we may want to supplement the protein department with some marinated boneless chicken breasts. I can make cajun corn on the cobb butt we will need about 30-40 ears of corn. I am hoping someone can step up and make a big batch of potato or pasta salad. We will also need a bunch of mixed leafy greens,carrots,cucumber,re-onion and several bottles of dressing for the green salad. Next we need some fresh fruit. Maybe some watermelon, oranges, cherries or whatever. I can bring homemade salsa but we need both tortilla and potato chips. Last but not least we need desserts. cakes, pies, cookies etc. Oh yeah, drinks and ice. A variety of sodas, water or lemonade or ice-tea. So how does this sound? We are definately open to suggestions and ideas. Who can bring what? If you want make something not listed that is cool too.

We are waiting to hear from Foster Farms and there might be a delicatessen that is going to help, hopefully know more by Tuesday...

The salad sounds good, fruit, I do remember a Heavy Fly presence there, I'm not sure how much food we want to open to the bugs... I don't remember the salad or the corn moving much at the last event

The corn may be a bit labor intensive too,,, lets focus for now on the salsas, chips, hotdogs and chicken...

a large pasta salad does sound like the ticket, the VA is bringing some drinks, but they only have budget for the vets and even that is quite limited...

we are paying for the porta potty...

Damm, thought that was a no-brainer for the VA...  :smt012 no worries,,,

I want this to be simple food wise... we have many volunteers who want to help with the cooking but do not kayakfish... so KayakJack....

The morning burrito thing sounds great, but for lunch, I would like you to be on the water and lets keep whatever we do simple so it's just handed off to the shore volunteers...

I'm off to the Medic tomorrow so probably won't be able to check back in till Sunday...

Great Stuff everyone and keep it coming.....
