So what?  If his excitement in his re-found love for kayak fishing means he's asking a lot of questions, I think that is positive energy and I find it entertaining.  You can make the same point without being critical, if you choose to.  It seems more like you want to run him out for asking too many questions. Chill out
Got it!  Lets be super passionate about something and not read up on it and not know a single thing and ask questions about something I know nothing about.  Fantastic attitude to pass down to future generations...just awesome.

Don't worry Al, I'm hanging up the towel on bashing hopeless people since ya'll love harboring them so much.   :smt005

While I totally see your point, guy was just looking for a rod recommendation.  No need to get salty.

I'm not being salty.  To be honest, I can assure you his next posts will be asking about reels, lines, hooks, etc. You really want to break every little aspect of fishing down for him?  I'm just recommending that he takes the first step to educate himself, so that he can then educate his kids that he plans on fishing with.  Whether it was his post about asking for kayak recommendation 15 years ago, or few weeks ago, now to this...its evident he doesn't know what he wants and most of that comes from lack of information.  Some of you guys that keep encouraging this behavior is wild.

I hate to say this too, but you said you have children so you sound old enough to do some reading on your own.  It sounds like you have very little understanding so coming here and posting all your questions is not the best bet.  You should educate yourself a bit more and have a better understanding first before asking questions.  Nothing wrong with asking questions but you have almost little to no basic understanding of fishing it seems.  If you don't have step 1 down, steps 2-10 are going to be confusing as hell.

Damn dude.
Damn what?  I'm just saying whats true.  If I wanted to plant a fruit tree, I'd go look up the basics of gardening and go from there.  Not jump on a forum and ask people what type of shovel I should get.  If I don't bother getting myself to step 1, then the rest of the way will be difficult and thats the truth.  I only said that because despite all the input from people, he genuinely seems lost and its hard to explain those concepts to people who don't care to read up on it, even the slightest bit.

Budget?  Drifting or trolling?  Kayak, boat or both?  What reel will it be paired with?  Existing rods in your quiver?  Will it need to pull double duty in another fishery?

Whoa, slow down cowboy.  Getting a little too advanced here.

That uglystick tiger sounds like your best bet!  The End.

General Talk / Re: Cheap kayak sale websites that are actually scams
« on: April 24, 2023, 11:32:46 AM »
Honestly, I didn't want to say anything back then but you were posting a lot of questionable websites.  I mean, it really doesn't take much to figure out that a suspicious website is offering you a deal of a lifetime, and you go ahead and put in your credit number?  Did it really take all this to figure out there are scam sites out there?

You sound old enough to know the old saying, if its too good to be true, it usually is.  If you keep scraping the internet for deals that no other shop is able to offer, you only end finding these scam sites.  Them stealing your CC info is the least of your worries, imagine what could be on your computer/phone, continuing to steal info without you even knowing.

I didn't mean to imply it.  You are definitely a hater.  Drinking that Haterade.

Thank you Crash, I'll take that as a compliment.  I only try on days that end in y.

His echo chamber of fans categorizing anyone holding him accountable as "haters" feeds it.  In his mind, he's now a victim and he's doing "the good work" of pushing back on the haters.  He'll be self-labeling as a martyr soon enough.
This has been my point for a very long time, yet most people here defended them and basically implied I'm a hater.  It is wild, because back even 10 years ago, if I did stupid stuff like this, I'd be called out for being an idiot, not praised for being a victim for not knowing the law.  Thanks to youtube, they have a way to voice this craziness being a victim and play that card, and the internet world shows sympathy for these idiots.

Oh...

Just more dramatic titles to get views.  I'll save you guys the trouble, the highlight of the video is transcribed below.

Warden: Fish & Game, Sean.
Dumbass: Hi Sean, is there anybody that I can talk to?
Warden: Umm, I think you're talking to me.
Dumbass: I'd like to report myself for being a dipshit.

Sorry, just looking for a laugh or two  :smt004

I'm going to toss out something personal here, for what it's worth i'm not sure what my point is actually, but sharing it anyway.

First year I that I went kayak fishing on the ocean, I joined some folks for a hookup in Big Sur.  I thought I knew my regulations, went out fishing (forget where, not LK though) and had an OK time out there but only caught three fish, like a black, blue and verm, nothing huge, but I was supper happy.  I headed back in with the group and we landed and were on the beach breaking down gear and this rubber boat we saw launch earlier had just come in and landed next to us.  Could see they had a PILE of very pretty fish in their cooler.  One of them said they thought they had an extra one or two and offered them to me.  I didn't see anything wrong with accepting one from them and took a fish and put it on my game clip.  Soon as I did that I stood back up and there was a DFG warden standing right next to me and said 'Did you know Canary's are no take, that's an illegal fish?"  I was in shock, he took the fish and wrote me a ticket on the spot.  I didn't say anything about getting it from those other guys while he was writing it, as I had learned in my youth to never say anything to an officer if they are already writing you a ticket.  I then waited until they had dealt with the boaters and then approached the officer and told him the situation how I got the fish from them.  That apparently changed things for them as the officer now said they were over limit and that's a worse offense, and asked if I would take a statement to it, which I did.  I still got the ticket, over 400$, owning up to it didn't change a thing.  Definitely never made another mistake like that again.  But I started out thinking I knew the rules, as I had done my best to study them.

Well, knowing this information about your ticket, the Asian delegation will take you.   :smt044 :smt044
