Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: Trevala Galore

+1 on the Bodega Bait and Tackle. I go up there in the wee hours on the weekends to get bait when can't talk myself into preparing on Friday night.  If you go, make sure you pick up a few torpedo weights.

I'm gonna make it up there in the spring, Eric. This summer ended up being packed with home building projects that took a toll on my precious fishing moments. Not. Next. Year.

Wonderful recap and look forward to an adventure soon. Congrats on the Chinook! Let's hope we can keep them around for generations to come.

General Talk / Re: Disappearing salmon
« on: September 13, 2021, 06:22:20 PM »
It does not look good, I agree. My take on this year’s salmon run: I think they were bigger because they had less competition for resources but there were far less.  The first time I went out on a PB from Bodega on a six pack, we left the dock at 7 and had limits by 9. They were good fish, but not 30 lbs. This year we went out and fished dux fir 5 hrs with nothing to show and then hit the channel marker outside SF bay where we started to hook up. Most fish were over 25lbs. We only landed four and it was hard fishing. This was with one of the most experienced salmon charters in SF. Something drastic needs to be done to save these awesome fish.

I use PowerPro and it's fine. Although it does catch the wind and that's got me thinking...

Hey ya’ll. If you lost something at Fort Ross on Friday or Saturday, send me a DM with a description of the item and I’ll do what I can to get it back to you.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Re: Covallo point 9/12

I love Ft. baker. It is tricky. Wouldn’t suggest going under  the GG bridge or around Yellow bluff unless you have a buddy. And even if you have a buddy, be skeptical. I’d be back at the launch by noon. The currents and the wind will be close to unmanageable by then. See the current chart from BASK and Windy below.

This needs to be a YouTube video Eddie. Between your natural comedic value and the DIY lesson obscura, you’d be an overnight hit.

Nice catch. Was thinking it might be time for Tomales to
turn on.

This is a great report. Was watching the south swell and thought the return would be a little troublesome. Congrats on a successful day!

There is an inn by Shelter Cove launch, maybe your wife would appreciate that!  I heard the Inn Keeper is a fishing fan, not to mention fabulous and reasonable facility.  And THE local guide .... top notch!

Don’t believe the hype. :smt003

Love the San Diego tuna trips! Been a couple of years for me.

Does it have one of those awesome livewells? Hard to tell what’s going on from the pictures given I’ve never seen one in person…

General Talk / Re: GWS attack at Gray Whale cove
« on: June 28, 2021, 06:10:00 PM »
The guy who got attacked at Gray Whales was a surfer.

I've heard that they hang out near the surfline looking for seals...and probably why we often hear about attacks on surfers. Their pinnipeds looking silhouette doesn't help either. I tell myself that I'd be safer if I was out further out in open water, but no guarantees...SS always.

You know, so few people die. But the experience is the stuff that our deepest nightmares are made of. If I were hit by a Polaris attack or had a little chew on the leg in the surf zone I'm not sure what it would take for me to go back again. To those of you on this forum (Innkeeper) that have seen the landlord and continued to launch their kayaks, hats off!
