Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Re: ARW bait

It's been years but we used to catch shinier perch just south of the launch at the slough entrance to that housing area . Fish the break water made of tires

General Fishing Tips / Re: Crabbing at Timber Cove???

You might want to put your traps shallow ! Back in the day before I started to dive for abs , we would rock pick in 2 or 3 feet of water on a minus tide . Many times would feel movement under big gear rocks and pull out some huge rock crabs .

Took the boat to Ice House a couple of weeks ago and not even a strike in a couple hours of downrigging . Usually 30+ fish on other trips using  the same techniques , only keeping a couple for breakfast . Camping trip there two weeks ago , no boat , same results ! Only a couple of boats fishing both trips and only saw one fish caught from shore by the North Wind campgrounds . I think they need to stock the lake , saw little on my depth finder and deep , usually a foot or two of the bottom , surface temp was 60 degrees . Sorry for the negative report .

Nice report and pictures , the marina area really looks nice since it was cleaned up and made into a scenic area . That evening shot back at the lighted waterfront is nice , I was raised in FF in the mid sixties and used to fish from the end of the slough to the point , much nicer now .

Thanks Adam and Ricci , guess I'll be using my standard 4/0 dodger and save the side kicks for another lake , another time .

General Talk / Re: Surf launch worth watching...
« on: April 19, 2014, 09:27:18 PM »
I guess you've never surfed a surf kayak? Its a whole lot of fun. Spins, cartwheels, barrel-rolls off the lip, easy to catch waves, whats the point  in that?  :smt005 and with the supalites you can launch, catch some fish, then stow your gear and ride waves. Really, whats the point? :smt044

I understand surf kayaking , those are not even normal waves for experienced surfers , much less kayakers who appeared to be somewhat inexperienced in those severe conditions .

What's the point ? You should use a surf board for surfing not a kayak ! Did not notice but did they have life vests on ?  :smt011

Adam , What is your knowledge of the Sep's Sidekick dodgers ? I have a half dozen or so and seldom use them for any length of time , always going back to my " go to " a standard shaped dodger . Seems like they require even less of a troll speed to get the proper action ? Thank's , Dan

General Fishing Tips / BSS4 ; Bass Fishing HELP !
« on: April 19, 2014, 01:57:52 PM »
I'm a trout / salmon fisherman and my bass fishing knowledge is zero or almost . In the past minnows have worked well but I have limited room on my mini-x  for a bait bucket and no need to search bait shops for minnows . Should I go with a drop shot / worm or what this time of the year ? I assume the bass are still on their beds or at least the males are at the end of April ? Any help would be much appreciated . Thanks , Dan

General Fishing Tips / Re: Looking for info on Lindsey Slough area
« on: March 08, 2013, 07:48:45 PM »
Lots of sloughs , launch from Suisun boat ramp or  Grizzly Is. and troll rattletraps real close to shore for stripers .

Hit Lake Solano for mostly just a paddle and to get out , no fish ! No surprise as it has not been stocked in a few years at least .  :smt013

Look for the small creek just down stream of L. Solano Park , interesting spot !
