Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: What brand of braid?

For a very comprehensive braid, flouro, and mono line comparison check out https://www.sportfishingmag.com/gallery/gear/2014/11/line-test/

Thereís a ton of information there. Iím surprised by the high ďdeviationĒ for Sufix 832.

Wrt non-braid, Iíve been using Yo-Zuri Hybrid for leaders, and it looks like a tremendous bargain in comparison to others in its category.

General Talk / NCKA express from Reno to San Jose vicinity?
« on: September 16, 2021, 02:35:48 PM »
Someone has just made me an incredible deal on some AI parts (specifically, aka bars, which are 1 5/8" aluminum tubing, about 4' or 5' long, plus a few smaller parts) that I've been looking for forever. The only catch is that they're in Reno and I won't be able to get there for months, if then. So, if anybody happens to be heading from Reno to anywhere near San Jose and would be willing and able to carry these parts, let me know.

Does I-5 go through Carmel Valley??

It's just inland like 1/4 to 1/2 mile from I-5 on Del Mar Heights Rd which, not surprisingly, also goes thru Del Mar (the other direction from I-5).

Sorry I somehow missed the responses here. It'll only be 1 hard-sided cooler of size 18" x 12" x 13" with some frozen halibut for my brother-in-law.

Any time will work. Thanks!

If you want tons of comparative results, this video is pretty impressive (although they do not pick a "winner"):

Iím familiar with cutting off the top 25yds, more or less depending on your estimation, and tying it back on the spool with the line reversed using the newly cut end at the spool and the fresh previous line at the spool is now at the front.  If this is legit or not others can chime in... :smt006

Iíll occasionally trim a few yards off the end and retie. And after a couple of seasons of hard use, Iíll do that reverso trick and get a couple more seasons use.

I never liked PP. It seemed to me that it would fray a lot easier than the Sufix 832 that I use now, and it also seemed more prone to cut my skin.

Cool old picture they're from the past almost forgot about the bell bottom era.

My wife threw away my bell bottoms when we got married. I've never forgiven her...

I think I discovered the problem. It seems the wires that go from the case to the whip are damagedónot sure how clear it is in the picture,  it itís obvious in-person. I think Iíll move the SS circuitry into my battery box, and add connectors for the whip near the scupper hole.

... If that doesn't work, maybe the board is more finicky about battery voltage. I would make sure your power source is between 12.6v and 11.1v (the max and nominal voltage of the original pack) while testing the unit.

Yes, if this doesn't work, then the next thing will be to consider the voltage...
