I had nine minnows leftover from the Berry trip, some crawlers from Clear Lake and a quarter gallon of gas. So I made a low budget Vallejo fishing trip. My usual cast of characters had obligations, so solo was the call. Nice day Monday and the former "one fish lake" gave it up. three on crawlers and two took minnows. All are cleaned and fix'n to be smoked. Got some good underwater pictures of small fry and large bass. Sonny gave me the technology I'll try to make it work. dave...

Four Yakers taking a much needed break from the stress life sometime dishes out. Ben (fishfarmer), Jed, Martin & me enjoyed a beautiful spring day on the Napa River. No sturgeon love. I scored one feisty striper now headed for the smoker. I was visited by a bird (I wish it had been a duck) A very majestic pure white goose. Don't think they come that way in nature, probably someones pet. It kept coming closer I thought it was being a photo ham. That was until it viciously bit my arm. Had I been able to grab its neck, his goose would be cooked.

This is an area new to me. I told Sonny that there might be catfish there. Would you believe, that reeled him in. Now if only the fish, will be as easy to hookup. 8:30 am, free launch, ch 69.  dave...

Want to launch about 8:30 AM at Vjo. boat ramp that's right next to Brinkman's Marine. I haven't checked tide yet, but if favorable and not too windy fish near mouth of Napa River. If it's windy, Kennedy Park near Napa College has a nice launch and is more protected. Both are free, yes no charge. My cell 707-373-5437 battery is dead right now, will be on tomorrow. dave...

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / MBK 11/11

Martin & me arrived oh so early and soon were joined by Tim aka 'Meat Hunter" Daviator showed up at a more reasonable time. His bride and kids took in the aquarium after dropping off Dave and his Yak. I've seen this scenario played out by Sonny @ Paradise He who arrives last jackpots. Tim also has the right stuff. I'm still on a roll, my day will come maybe. I'm not clever enough to post pictures, but some were taken. If this crew is as tired as me, I suspect none will post tonight

See you at the crack of early.

No Stripers caught, keeper nor otherwise. My highlites of the day, the company of Martin, our depth-finders both worked and that special brew he provided. Downer was a latch failure on a floating leash. Martin is feeling pain much more than just his Luguna Seca hat blowing away.

Martin and I ventured out in our quest of new quarry in beautiful Tomales Bay. The wind forcast nearly shelved the trip but fortunately it remained calm until about !:00 PM. We focused on making bait the first half hour, then did the Halli drift in deeper water. I continued to fish the Sabiki at the same time. I applied the lure sinker idea, replacing the sinker with a Johnson Silver Minnow. On one drop scored a Mac attack all 4 hooks swimming like a crazy monkey. Bled, cleaned and iced all Macs and a couple Dines for the smoker. Caught two leopards on sardines the first one about 4 1/2 ft long my personal best the second one about 4 ft Martin was nearby and may have a picture. My cell phone battery died so I couldn't shoot and send to Martin pictures of the first one for posting. Maybe tomorrow Jed can chase the digital pictures I took from my real camera to here. Sure glad C&R it was one tough peddle back, against the wind.

Martin and I are planning a troll attempt for stripers on Tue. We want to launch at the foot of First St. in Benicia about 7:30 am. This is a no cost, public area with excellent parking, very close and easy walk to the beach. I am too short on WAF points and its a birthday for Martin's son, so we'll have to split about 11:00 am. Tide shows an outgoing current until 10:00. Two rods are legal with a second rod stamp as this is upriver from the Carquinez Bridge. Looking for some good NCKA's to join us.

I can't help myself, I gotta try again. 4:41 AM 3.89 ft High Tide; 10:35 AM 1.64 ft Low Tide;
4:26 PM 5.16 ft High Tide. Now if only the wind will behave. 7:30 AM @ Miller Park.

Launch @ Miller Park 7:30am  + or - fishing east of Hog Island.

Fishing was good, catching was not for me. Once again martin scored one Butt just to avoid a skunk. On my last tack of the afternoon, the wind had drifted me out quite far as I rigged up to use three Chovies.  While fishing my way in I observed that Martin had called it a day. I pulled the line in and power peddled toward the launch where Martin and his home brew awaited. Pop, suddenly no pedal resistance. Call for assistance Martin had already car-topped his ride. NCKA Fishemotion offered a free tow. Hope he never has a problem, but if he does I want to be there for him. Against the wind I could paddle 1.3 mph but unlikely I'd last all the way to the launch. Fishemotion did the deed at 1.7 mph. NCKA Rocks!!! dave
