Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Napa river report
« on: February 09, 2017, 09:11:12 AM »
So I finally got a kayak, prowler 13 (thanks mark) and I got to say why I didn’t do this sooner. I’ve taken it out twice off the napa river. Did some trolling and lots of plugging while listening to muddy waters for a skunk, but still had lots of fun being on the water.  Now I can start consuming vast amounts of kayak paraphernalia. I got the pfd and wasn’t as bothersome or restricting as I thought I would be. It felt like a warm hug of safety.  Few thoughts: The long butt on the 8.6 rod I use for plugging from shore is not conducive for sitting in a kayak. I also realized that no matter how light the yak is I still need a cart. Hopefully the next report won’t be a skunk.

Safety First / clothing and pfd's
« on: January 21, 2017, 10:44:17 AM »
So I’m reading old post and the safety threads and I think I decided to get a wetsuit instead of dry or semi dry suit. Seems safer but less comfortable.  Then there’s the pfd at first I was considering an inflatable but after going through some old discussions I think I’ll go with the regular ones with minimal pockets in front mesh back.   Im curious how many of you wear the inflatable.  By the way the cold water immersion video is a must watch.  Any insight would be welcome, thanks

Introductions / newbie from vallejo

Hey all, no kayak yet but I am ready.  Been surfing the board on boat recommendations and learning a few things here about kayaks.  Been looking on CL and here for any sales.  Think im going towards an OK prowler 13.  From what I gather here it seems you guys recommend a good used boat rather than a new cheap one.  Anyways hope to meet some of you on the water
