First Time Crab Opener at HMB 11/2/2024

Chrismak47:
I’ve been watching all of the NorCal kayak anglers for years and now I’ve finally been able to get a kayak of my own. My first time taking it out on the kayak tomorrow at HMB. Got four hoop nets. I’ll be there bright and early if anyone wants to meet up. See yall there!

Papa Al:
Welcome to NCKA :smt006
Good luck and be safe tomorrow.

Fiver:
Welcome to the madness!

Conditions look pretty poor for the opener at HMB (and all up and down the coast). I don't know what level of comfort you have on a kayak, but it might be better to wait for calmer weather, especially if this is your first time.

+1 welcome

E Kayaker:
Yes welcome. Dropping and pulling nets can be tricky with the swell on top of the wind waves. Looking down and leaning over the side of the kayak makes it difficult to watch the approaching waves making it easier to get caught off balance. I have plans to go tomorrow but the wind forecast has got me worried. My plan is to go and check the conditions first then launch if it isn’t too bad and stay ready to call it quits if it starts blowing too hard.
