Finally managed to get on the water, can’t believe it’s the first time this year. The kid next-door has been bugging me for years to take him out kayak fishing. Finally we found a day where we both had some time and the weather was cooperating. The fish on the other hand were a different story. The lingcod bite was almost completely shut down , I could not get anything to bite the swimbait. The only things that worked was a 3 ounce MegaBait vertical jig in black anchovy for me and a 2 oz jig head with a white Candy Bar Scampi tail for the kid. It took him a while to get the hang of it but after I added a barfed up octopus to his jig he figured it out. We finished the day with a limit of good sized rockfish for me and 6 decent ones for the kid.

You're a good man Ruben. Taking anyone fishing on a kayak is a big responsibility. Glad things worked out. Just look at the kid's smile you know you're his hero for life.
