New Brighton beach, but the gates don't open till 8 am ????

If you have a light-to-moderate weight kayak, you can park on the street and wheel across the railroad tracks, tree roots, and rocks to get to the beach as early as you want.

I use to that sort of thing when I was younger. I do know that spot though. Makes me want to take my surf pole at the crack of dawn.

Has anyone tested retrieving what might be a larger fish at slower retrieval from deeper water? I will try and report when the time arises.

I have not had issues with barotrauma at inshore  because most of my inshore fishing in a kayak is usually no more than 80 ft in places I frequent around the Monterey bay

Nice boat.
I might be looking for one soon, depending on where I retire to.

Paul

Retire in San Jose. Then you have great points to cover north and south. :smt001

Unless you plan on retiring in Alaska. That's a no brainer. :smt003

Thank you, Alex
My wife and I compromised, and we have been looking around Sonoma County (Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, and Windsor) lately.   We would like to move within the next five months.

Paul

Congrats !

Look forward to reports from your new area soon.

Congrats on a new slaying vessel Alex!  That looks much slicker than the tin cans you usually float in  :smt044

 :smt005

Thanks, I think? :smt005

Ha! I might be taking my 12 foot aluminum to shelter for a few recon missions. Then talk to me about tin cans. Tenderfoot! :smt001

As I am getting later in yrs, :smt002 I find myself alternating more often to my boats on less than ideal conditions on the water.

I mostly fish freshwater on the kayaks unless conditions are favorable on the big blue.

So this is my latest toy that should be ready for the big blue. Complete tune up and fluid changes before she ventures out.

1802 trophy with a whopping 115 hp 4 stroke. :smt007
