Thanks for posting that. I am still bummed we are loosing land access to liberty island. This seems like a pretty broad topic covered in the meeting, not related to any one particular project, right?

I do. If i'm not fishing, that is my other hobby. I usually go to the Rubicon, been going up there for about 20 years now.

i would buy a Uglystick tiger 8' 12-30lb rod. it will work on a DR, it will haul around a 2.5 ball. its a great live bait and troll hali rod, and it will jig for rockfish. 70 bucks too.

im slowly selling my assortment rods and outfitting my boat with 6 of these setups because they truly do it all so well

Agreed. Can't go wrong with an Ugly Stik. Spend the money on the reel.

the liability coverage you already have for your tow vehicle will protect you in the event you're liable for injuries or damages while pulling the trailer.

This. If you are worried, call your insurance to confirm that your liability coverage will also cover any trailer behind the tow vehicle.

I retract my earlier statement. I was unaware of the color choice. That looks awesome. Carry on!

I don't know anyone down that way, but whatever you do, don't rattle can it. lol. At the vey least get a cheap gun from harbor freight and spray it with a cheap single stage car paint. Or take it to Maaco/Earl Schiebe. You've already done the hard part, don't screw it up now.

It is always inspiring to hear stories like this. I'm glad you finally found something that works for you.  My wife has been battling celiac/microscopic colitis issues for years, so i feel your pain and frustration.

The biggest lesson i've learned is that you have to be your own advocate and never stop trying new things if the last one didn't work.

Nice boat. Looks pretty new ?

Kinda, You can read the story here:

TL;DR version: I picked it up as a partially completed homebuilt last year and finished it up.

Bulldog, nice to meet you this morning. We had similar results, my buddy was chumming(puking) pretty hard by 8am with that south wind and north swell knocking my little boat around so we didn't stick it out too long. I even made a couple drifts hoping to catch some rockfish for not even a nibble.

Hard to tell from the picture, but it looks very similar to the power plug for my old Garmin GPSmap60csx that i used to have mounted to my dirt bike before i got a smartphone.

My $.02. I noticed that Taku "Outdoor Chef Life" tends to use a traditional large kitchen/chef's knife for a lot of his fish processing. I added one to my fish cleaning arsenal and I like it. His videos on youtube are worth the watch, everytime he cleans a fish I learn something new.

I'm no Mathamagician but is that 15.5' Kaskazi really only 1400$?  That's a pretty sweet ride.

Yeah, but if you want that price you probably have to fly to S. Africa and then paddle it home. Their website does not list any US distributors, and shipping ain't cheap unless you can fill an entire container, then it still isn't cheap.

Gabe,

Build one! if you didn't worry about the peddle drive or the rudder you could replicate mine for less than $1000 and about a month of evenings and weekends.

I can appreciate all the ideas in this thread. Thanks for sharing. I may have to make a similar board.

My go to is a dropper loop with whatever cheap soft plastic is in the bargain bin at walmart. You can usually find the little pouches of 15-20ea crawdads or worms or whatever for $.99. Add your favorite scented gel to them and it works great.
