Great report.  Thank you for sharing.  I too, am horrible at bass fishing (or any fishing for that matter, but I do practice casting alot).

It is crazy that they will hit a certain color and once you find the color you can't not catch them.  Looking forward to the pics. I caught a couple up in Cottonwood a couple weeks back.

My first kayak fishing experience was fly fishing on a lake in Texas.  I was seated the entire time and never had a problem (It was a paddle yak).  I would suggest trying it our on some of the smaller lakes and reservoirs in the area until you get comfortable before getting into moving water.   Never been in a pedal kayak but would imagine it would be a little easier but not necessary.  Good luck out there and enjoy the learning and the fishing.  Plus always have the essential saefty equipment with you and wear your life jacket at all times.

Have you looked at the Vibe Sea Ghost 130?  I have the 110 and have not had any problems with it for the last 3 years.

I go with the uni/double uni . My fat fingers and old eyes require simple strong knots and the uni works well for me.

and we are no longer "victims" of a shark attack (err encounter) we are "individuals intentionally entering an environment known to have risks".  That way the poor innocent shark is not to be blamed for its actions.

I keep it simple with a pair of malone rack pads ($25) on the cross bars and strap it down.  Never had a problem yet.  Not sure if this helps with your situation

I carry 8" bolt cutters like Eddie after wathing my son having a tough time removing hooks from a pelican.
Dang, you guys are brave!  Pelicans are huge and warriors of the skies.  Love em’ yet sure wouldn’t know how to handle one...

The pelican wasn't moving so we went in to have a closer look, and noticed it's predicament. There wasn't much it could do but hang out and be operated on.

I helped remove a sabiki line from a pelican once at Avila.

One guy threw a sweatshirt over the head of the bird which calmed it down, cut the line, and him and I unwrapped the line and removed four hooks.  Fortunately only one was "hooked"   The fisherman who caused the problem was mad at the guy who cut his line.  (Dumb A$$) .

and the color of the kayak, but typically only in cases where there is a bite....yum yum

2 in one day... i think you beat the "more likely to be killed by lightning" odds.  Time to buy a lottery ticket!

Glad it ended with the only injury to whomever has to wash your laundry.

Sand

It must have something to do with their migratory patterns and seasonal congregations. There's a video on YT that shows dosens of GWS hanging around Rockaway.. so apparently Pacifica is a congregation point for them.

Migratory like an African swallow?

or perhaps it was a European Swallow.... :smt044

King Arthur: The swallow may fly south with the sun or the house martin or the plover may seek warmer climes in winter, yet these are not strangers to our land?
Guard: Are you suggesting that coconuts migrate?
King Arthur: Not at all. They could be carried.
Guard: What? A swallow carrying a coconut?
King Arthur: It could grip it by the husk!
Guard: It's not a question of where he grips it! It's a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut.
King Arthur: Well, it doesn't matter. Will you go and tell your master that Arthur from the Court of Camelot is here?
Guard: Listen. In order to maintain air-speed velocity, a swallow needs to beat its wings forty-three times every second, right?
King Arthur: Please!
Guard: Am I right?
King Arthur: I'm not interested!
[A second guard approaches the parapet]
Guard 2: It could be carried by an African swallow!
Guard 1: Oh yeah. An African swallow, maybe -- but not a European swallow, that's my point.
Guard 2: Oh yeah, I agree with that.
King Arthur: [exasperated] Will you ask your master if he wants to join my court at Camelot?!
Guard 1: But, of course, African swallows are non-migratory.
Guard 2: Oh, yeah.
[Arthur begins to depart]
Guard 1: ...So they couldn't bring a coconut back anyway.
