Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Lake Mendo Sat 1/13/07
« on: January 15, 2007, 03:57:07 PM »
Got to the lake around 8:30am.  A little chilly but no wind so the water is glass like.  The water level is very high which flooded the boat ramp about 3ft.  Tried to hail anyone on CH69 but no reply.  Trolling with live bait toward Crappie Cove but no hookup.  Saw lots of fishes on FF suspended around 30ft but no love.  Paddled to the North to checkout the cove but no bite.  Saw 1 power boat on the North end but no kayaks!   Throw out the new surface lure around the bend but nada.  Feel sooo lonely so start to head back to the ramp in early afternoon.  I guess the fishes are not hungry today!

I'll be there around 8am.  Will contact you via channel 69.

Just return in time for tomorrow tournament.  I don't have a paypal account so I use my wife account to register.  See y'all at the lake in the morning.

Got to the water around 9am and met Pelican at the launch, we went to the cove at the North and spent most of the day trolling and looking for boil.  Got a couple strikes but no hook-up!  Later in the afternoon, we paddled to the South cove and met Guitarzan, Mooch, and Marmite heading in since they got their limits.  Saw lots of bait fish and stripers on the FF but no takers today.  I wanted to fish until dark but the it started to rain so we decided to head in.  I really enjoy fishing here at Mendo lake and glad to meet new friends from NCKA and looking forward to another trip :smt003

Just checked weather for Ukiah, it'll be raining on & off tomorrow but look like will be dry on Sunday.  I'll be there Sunday morning.  If you want to call the bait shop, their number is (707) 462-0417.  See ya on Sunday

Here are the pictures of the sunset and full moon on the lake!

What a wonderful scenery!

Got to the lake around 2pm,  launched from the North ramp and paddled to the spot which we saw the "boils" a couple weeks ago.  The new fish finder is working great!  Saw lots of bait fish and a few big ones chasing after them on the FF but no boil at all.  Continue trolling the cove and along the East shore and looking for boils but nada  :smt009
The sunset was spectacular and the full moon was beautiful!  Wish I don't have to work tomorrow so I can spent more time fishing at night here.  No fish caught for this afternoon (Sean and his friends "scared" all the fish in the morning)  :smt003 but the scenery was well worth it!  I'll post some pictures later.

If it stays overcast fish in the morning.  I will be there Sunday.

Weather forecast from this morning calls for a warm day on Sunday (hi 70's to low 80's) so it would be better to fish in the afternoon when it's cool down.  Hope to see you there!

Hmmmm, tempting... two fishing days in a row... will run it by the wife.

If you can make it, would you let me know by tomorrow afternoon?  I'll check this forum tomorrow for your reply.

Sailfish,

Let me know how you do.  I might be able to squeeze in a PM trip on Monday 11/6.

Jody

My wife doesn't like for me to go alone, so I still looking for a "co-kayaker" for this trip on Sunday!  Hope someone can make it :icon_frown:

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Lake Mendocino anyone?
« on: November 03, 2006, 09:34:03 AM »
Just got my fish finder.  Will install it tomorrow and would like to test it out at Lake Mendo on Sunday.  Anyone interested in joining me?  I plan to be there in early afternoon (around 2:00pm) and fish until dark!

When does the "season" start?

I have a outdoor writer buddy in San Diego that wants to do an article on kayak sturgeon fishing and I would like to look at tide tables and give him some open windows to think about coming up.

MolBasser

Hi MolBasser,

You can catch them year round but the best time is from November through March.
