Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: kayak trailer registration
« on: April 29, 2017, 06:54:11 PM »
Some locations don't physically inspect the trailer, just there for filing/ paperwork like mentioned above and the hand off of PTI plate in my case with my Yakima rack n roll.

Kayaks / Re: Inflatable kayaks for river fishing
« on: March 25, 2017, 08:52:51 AM »
I was at a demo day out in the Sierras last year and really took a liking to the Aquaglide Chinook XP and Columbia XP. Everything you wouldn't expect in an inflatable both seemed to have and do on top of the quality factor. I think just the overall ease of paddling, tracking and maneuverability is what really got me even with mild winds out. Also got to try out the Advanced Elements Sport Kayak and also really liked it for an inflatable but the quality seemed a bit less compared to AG..

Owned an Air Tomcat and although this wasn't river use, Aires quality is top notch and I would really be interested in testing the Bakraft series. Pricey but the weight is super light!

General Fishing Tips / Re: No cup holder on kayaks
« on: March 07, 2017, 07:26:47 PM »
I was thinking the same thing but wanted to have as much space and around me on my T13. Came up with a pretty simple idea, just have to do the reach around.

Standard bottle cage drilled into 1/2'' pvc zip tied to my crate.

Introductions / Re: new kayaker here
« on: February 22, 2017, 09:07:09 PM »
Welcome aboard! Do the homework on the fish finder, vhf, pfd, dry/wetsuit etc. since you're already a kayak in. All can be life saving gear if used properly and won't come that cheap. Lots of great and very recent information, polls and reviews on fish finders/ just about anything you can think of. Just have to search for it and usually sift through a few posts until you find your match.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: How do you roll????

Might ditch the cargo box and go with a Yakima Frontloader so I can bring along the bike.

Any luck crabbing down at HMB?  I haven't seen any reports from down there.  In general, how is the crabbing?

I'm thinking of a Sunday trip, since the winds are predicted to be down below 10mph.

i'd say crabbing has been slower but still decent enough from the few that i've talked to more recent. generally speaking, its "pretty good". i however went out on sunday and had no keepers! waiting for the ocean to calm a down for a longer period to get back out. hopefully there is a decent break by the end of month.. anyways double check weather reports, sunday doesn't look that water friendly.

Wanted To Buy / Re: kayak cart
« on: February 13, 2017, 09:09:35 AM »
i have the regular tuff tire wheeleez that i have been using for a while but didn't care for the loading straps after a few trips. i think the major problem was one kickstand made it very difficult to load a T13 dry or not by yourself. so i ditched everything but the wheels and made a scupper hole mount cart with just the wheels and 1'' pvc. i usually go out of HMB and it works excellent but would like to travel other beaches and don't want to worry about any stress on the scupper holes.

it would seem with 2 kickstands and wider tires that the beach version should be more stable when loading and more one person user friendly compared to the regular tuff tire? either way i just placed an order for the beach cart so another +1.

General Talk / Re: My ENGLE 65 Ice Chest
« on: February 07, 2017, 05:58:43 AM »
Haven't heard of em but that sounds like an exceptional cooler with a fair price. I have to say that I really do prefer the latch system over rubber latches as long as they can also be replaced down the road. Sadly I didn't pull the trigger on the RTIC but this will be one to do some more research on for my next cooler.

General Talk / Re: Review of Kayak catch bag

Regarding the IceMule, they also make a specific pro catch cooler in 3 different sizes that should fit in most kayak hulls or strapped to the bow. Seems reasonably priced and heard many good things..

Something like this???

i recall seeing this a while back and for sale. can't find it now but imagine you sold it?> sure would be a nice alternative and space saver vs going out solo and taking the trailer each time.
