For Sale / Re: 12' Aluminum
« on: April 26, 2011, 01:45:30 PM »
I totally forgot this post was still up. The motor is gone and since replaced with a minkota endura 55# thrust trolling motor. I used it mainly for big ponds and drifting around in the deep water channel. Since the motor is gone I'd let it go for 300 with the trolling motor and deep cycle battery . PM me if you are still interested. Thanks

Yeah, its a longshaft. I think when I measured it was 22" from transom bracket to center of prop.

For Sale / 12' Aluminum
« on: March 19, 2011, 11:39:51 AM »
I have a 12' Sears aluminum boat I need to offload. Its been on CL for a few weeks with no hit so I thought I'd try here. Its been cleaned up and painted on the outside. It's bare on the inside. Had a split in the bow where previous owner slammed a rock. I had it welded up and beefed up. No leaks. With all this rain, it hold water pretty good. Would make a sweet fish tank. Haha. $350 obo. I have a Johnson seahorse 6hp that needs a recoil starter, but I can start it with a pull rope from the flywheel. $100 firm. Current registration.

For Sale / Specialized P2 for trade
« on: February 02, 2011, 07:29:07 PM »
I have an '05 specialized P2 I'm looking to trade. I paid $900 for it new here in Sacramento. I'm looking to trade for a SOT that I can rig for fishing. The bike is all stock except the back tire which is a Snafu knobjob. Marzocci forks work great with no leakdown and are adjustable. Disc brakes. Here's a few pics, not the best but if you pm me I can snap a few pics with a good camera to send you. I have it up for $425 on Cl here in Sac.

General Fishing Tips / Sturgeon regulation questions
« on: January 30, 2011, 01:37:45 PM »
I haven't been sturgeon fishing in ten years or more and had a few questions. I was on the fish and game regulation website and it states that you cannot use steel leader line or use a gaff to land the fish. If I cant use steel leader what setup can I use? And as far as gaffing goes, is a noose legal to use? Any thoughts on this would be helpful.

Its definately reccomended you have a truck with 4wheel drive. There is a lot of deep slippery mud in some places out there. The only thing I'm disappointed with is the amount of trash out there. If bank fishing its horrible. We had a fire going this morning and tried to burn as much trash as possible in our area just so we weren't tripping over it every 2 minutes. Other than that, if you can get out there when the tide is coming in and during slack tide, you can bang them out. When the tide starts going out the action stops drastically.

On another note.. Are there any marinas on the deep water channel out there? Say If i wanted to launch my yak and still come back to a complete car?

Yeah today was definately a good start to the fishing season. Im gonna try to get out there again soon but be out there at around 5 in the morning. I didnt have any bait stealers thankfully. Just tied the sardines on real good with that polyester wrap stuff. The water is calm out there all day si im thinking getting the yak out there is gonna be a blast. Gonna try  some jumbo minnows next time

I went out today checking out a new spot in Courtland at the midway point in the deep water channel. I didnt get a chance to take the yak out because I didnt know what launching would be like. Early morning the water is up to the top of the bank so launching will be easy. Caught  3 stripers, all 22-23" and 6-7 lbs. They stopped biting at about 10:30 when the tide was going out. I will be going back in the yak for sure.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Re: Lake Natoma
« on: January 24, 2011, 08:35:05 PM »
Ive been paddling around the passages by negro bar but havent fished it at all. I dont even know what to use out there right now. I was just gonna throw some minnow lures and plug some powerbait worms, maybe do a drop shot setup. There is a lot of cover in the water and I dont want to be cleaning my setup everytime I pull it out. Any suggestions?

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Lake Natoma
« on: January 24, 2011, 02:49:08 PM »
Has anyone on here been fishing in the secluded ponds across from the aquatic center at lake Natoma? I ran across a video on youtube and it looked interesting. So I looked it up on google maps satelite image and it looks like a good spot to wet a line.  I would imagine the water is warmer in there this time of year.

Thanks for the info. I have a small plano box inside. I was just seeing how much crap I could actually load up on this thing. I dont really have alot of gear for striper anyway and my tackle is kind of light. So if I get a monster on the business end its gonna take a while to land it. I know how to rig for crappie and the minnows I just dont know what size hooks to use. I havent been fishing in  along time. Its like riding a bike.. right? haha

Im not going to make it out there 'til sunday afternoon afterall. Have too much to do. Im gonna drop by in the morning to show my dad the spot. He's gonna get his license tomorrow. I have my little Emotion all setup and cant wait to wet a line!!!
