Welcome to the club!  :smt003  Older than I want to be, but still feel young at heart where it matters.  NCKA changed my life for the better, no two ways about it.  Glad you found "the madness" and look forward to hearing about your adventures.

We do not discriminate based on age, sex, national origin, or fishing ability. Well, maybe a little bit based on fishing ability…

and perhaps Tastykake preference.

Whoa, so many great responses! I'm going to turn notifications on for replies so I don't miss these in the future.

So cool to hear of people starting out in their later years (and I agree Fuzzy Tom is an inspiration!)

I did end up getting an Old Town Sportsman 120 PDL and I have been very happy with it so far... I've only had it for a couple of weeks but I've already been on the water on it most of those days lol - you can say I'm already addicted.

I am not starting out in great shape (desk jockey day job) but this has to be the first hobby I've gotten into where I look forward to the exertion!

Great community y'all got here!

Welcome, from a 78 year young man who started at 62.   Yeah, I've had to make some adjustments over the years, such as not staying out longer than 4-5 hrs and doing really heavy lifting.  But it's more about staying in decent shape in the off-season and on the days during the season when I'm not on the water. I'm no fitness fanatic, but I stay active, in fact, it's hard for me not to be active.
You're ahead of me in age by about six months Tom so I totally understand the necessity of staying in shape and not doing too heavy of a lift of anything. I still workout with a few weights, do the stretches and hike and bike. I  watch out for myself on the water much more than I used to and do not allow myself to get into situations where my body gets tested to the limit like sketchy launches/landings in the surf.
