Nice to meet you as well. We pan fried the fish in butter and seasonings. We made fish tacos with all the fixings. An amazing meal! My buddy isn’t a big fan of fish, but he had 4 or 5 tacos.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Van Damme - 6/11

My first time kayaking in Mendocino and had an easy launch from Van Damme. We didn’t have any luck in the cove, but hooked onto a couple fish in the kelp columns on the North side of the cove. I caught a black and yellow and my  son landed his first lingcod. 25” and I was sure he was snagged until he pulled him free and started bringing in line. Great campfire fish tacos!

Sounds like a fun day. Lots of fish and a solid keeper. 32” halibut is a lot of meat! Nice work.

3/27 - my son and I launched around 8am from the  Alameda rockwall. After about 2 hours I hooked a 28” Halibut. I used frozen Herring from Fisherman’s Point in San Mateo that I cast netted a couple months ago. I only caught 4, but it was a pretty cool experience to catch a Halibut with one of them.

Can’t wait to head back!

Thanks for sharing. I’ll wear my life jacket and wetsuit this time of year!

A little late to the thread, but a friend and I had luck here just south of the jetty mouth. Our traps were approx 40 ft deep a few hundred yards apart. We mostly caught keeper size Dungeness and a couple rock crabs. It was on Jan 1st, so it’s been a while. One trap was empty, another only had one crab and then we limited my license on the other two. This was before I bought a kayak and in my buddy’s row boat.

Hi,

My name is Mark and I recently purchased a tandem Brooklyn Kayak Company fishing kayak. I’ve only been out a few times (HMB, Sausalito & China Camp).  No fish yet, but am having a blast with my fam on the water.  Mostly my 9 year old son who loves to fish. Looking forward to learning from so many experienced anglers.

Best,
Mark
