Hey Ben. It’s me Sonny. I was the other kayaker that came and help bring in that sinking kayak. I feel bad for the guy. I’m glad he didn’t go in the drink and was so glad that this wasn’t an ocean rescue cause it would have been really bad. It was nice to meet you Ben and hope to see you there again under better circumstances.

Do you see any type of indentation in the kayak from the straps? Thanks

No we stayed south of the first green can. We saw waves breaking along  the kings rock reefs and stayed away.

Bio man, so there can be multiple secondary waves or am I not reading your reply correctly. I thought I understood the data ok but now I’m second guessing what I think I know

Thanks

Safety First / HMB sea conditions Saturday 12/5/20
« on: December 06, 2020, 05:30:43 PM »
Hi I was wondering if anyone went out of HMB on Saturday? My friend and I went out and according to weather
/swell data it was supposed to be 5 ft @11 sec. winds were 2-3 mph offshore. However when we left the marina the swells were huge and then we were able to see that they were breaking at the reefs. Was the data wrong cause I didn’t understand why the conditions were so rough. I thought we were going to capsize. I also heard in the vhf that some other kayakers were surprised by the swells too. What am I not understanding by the data? Thanks

MooMoo used to have a revolution 11 and he fished in the ocean all the time.  You can watch his videos on youtube...its MooMooOutdoors.

Kayaks / Re: Rudder system a must-have for an Ocean Kayak Trident 13?
« on: March 28, 2020, 09:30:39 AM »
I have owned a trident 13 and yes it did track pretty straight and I'm not a good paddler.  But I notice that I do have to make constant direction corrections.  So I would have liked to see if a rudder would help.  But its fairly easy to add it afterwards.  If you can get in installed from the factory it might be a little cheaper than an aftermarket.

Hobie Kayaks / California Canoe and Kayak sale
« on: October 05, 2019, 09:55:20 PM »
Hi all. I picked up a new 2019 Revo for my nephew to fish with me. They are discounting most of the 2019 line Hobies at 20% off. Their demos are also on sale. Disclaimer: I do not work for CCK.

Wow.  Looks really complicated to operate.  So that swivels and you still have a rudder? I’ll never be able to get that to go straight

I spoke to one of the salesperson at FW before they closed. He said that the landlord raised the rent too high and they just couldn’t afford to be there anymore. Too bad I liked the people there. Nice and helped out a a lot.
