Craftsmen's Corner / Re: Wheeleez Valve Repair
« on: May 27, 2013, 06:36:59 PM »
If you want to mess with some one just unscrew their valve core a little. Persistent slow leak that can sometimes baffle even tire repair shops, until they just install a new stem. Gotta thank my high school shop teacher for that one.  :smt001

Point being nobody ever thinks about that valve core. Good job  :smt001 :smt001

Ocean Kayaks / Re: need advice on my first fishing kayak

T13 is what I started with on the American, it is a great all around boat, same as the 120. I would try to demo them first but don't think you will be disappointed with either boat.

For Sale / Re: Need a hand man (handy man) or I guess a floorer
« on: April 14, 2013, 01:35:28 AM »
I believe the going rate is between $2.50 and $3 a sq-ft. That usually gets the floors prepped (staples removed), sanded, filled, sanded, stained, sanded etc. That price usually does not include repairs.

I would call companies in your area I am sure they can tell you their sq-ft charge.

Kayaks / Re: The most expensive kayak!

I can guarantee we are not their target market.

I think they have a nice product for a price appropriate to those who see the value of that kind of kayak.

Remember when Herman Miller introduced a office chair around $750.

Now Herman Miller furniture is coveted by the same people who thought they were crazy.

And if that problem doesn't occupy you long enough, please explain why I see a half dozen corroded  "U"- locks  locked to bicycle racks in front of stores.

U-locks can be a pain to take with you where ever you go. So if you keep it locked at a place you regularly use it then you do not have to take it with you.

The lock stays attached to the rack forever when the owner forgets about the lock, where it is, or lost the key.

For Sale / Re: Rodsmith Power Wrapper
« on: March 13, 2013, 03:01:33 PM »
I have spent a great portion of my life making what I needed.  There comes a time when it is nice to just buy rather than re-create/build.  This may be one of those times.  I could fabricate/mill the motor supports, rod supports, etc and use a piece of 80/20, Bosch or Item extrusion for the base but again, it's recreating the wheel a bit for a minimal cost savings.

I can supply and do the electronics if you can make the supports. For two wrappers of course.

I use my legos for a rod wrapper. But I also have cases of motors, gears, wheels, lego computer etc.

I have considered making something nicer with an Arduino, motor shield and stepper motor, or really any motor 12 volt or less.

The people I know who own with Rodsmith Power Wrappers or similar and would not let them go to save their lives.

General Talk / Philosophical Question
« on: February 12, 2013, 05:30:50 PM »
A ship sets sail from its home port. Every port that the ship stops at has a part of it replaced with an identical part. By the time it gets back to its home port every piece has been replaced.

Is it the same ship?

Lead right now is $1.11 a pound. I doubt you will get $.80 out of dirty lead from a metal salvage place. IMHO
