General Fishing Tips / tips on fishing at Lake Don Pedro?
« on: May 23, 2012, 10:34:42 AM »
My friends and I are camping at Lake Don Pedro this weekend.  We're staying at flemming meadows camp site. I had luck fishing at night off the shores for cat fish the past years. I'm going to bring my revo this trip n hopefully try for some bass or whatever they have there that I could target. Does anyone has any tips on where to go, what to fish for, baits or lures?
Thanks
Phong

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / what size anchor should be enough?
« on: April 30, 2012, 04:42:22 PM »
I'm planning to add Tote quick release anchor system on my revo. I was wondering what size and style would be suitable for a kayak?  I didn't want to go over board and drag extra weight around with me for nothing.  Thanks Phong

Spent the whole day doing last minute touches to my revo. Last to go on was the badge I got from Mooch a while back. Now I just need some salmon blood on this shinnying new deck :smt044 :smt003.

Never been salmon fishing on my kayak before. Is anyone going out this Saturday anywhere? I'm down to head to any location really.  If we do head north then I can grab some ab afterwards. But from readying reports it sounds like south is a better chance. Really want to try out my new revolution...

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / FF cables questions .....
« on: April 03, 2012, 07:12:52 PM »
I just got my revolution n trying to install my FF. Already hit a bump...

So my ff (humming bird 788) transducer and power wires are really small.  But the actual plug its self is big. I have a 1/2" liquid tite fitting from hook 1 and the plugs wont fit. I'm sure if I get the 3/4" ones the plug will fit. What I'm worried is, will it seal the wires tight enough so it wont leak. The wires itself is less then 3/8" combined.

Has anyone used a different method to install their FF?

Thanks
Phong

Since there's a high surf warning on the coast tomorrow. I don't think anyone's going to head out there. Does anyone wants to try out China camp for sturgeon? I've been doing good on a PB by Martinez area but also heard good report at China camp. Never got a sturgeon on a yak before so want to give it a try. Negative tides at 5pm so if we head in before that we should be able to avoid the mud walk I hear about... lol

Since a few buddies and I had fri off work. We decided to try to burn some sturgeon tags before the year ends. When we got to the launch in Martinez and got the boat ready. Notice that the small amount of water that was left on the boat had frozen solid. Man it was cold..... Felt like I was in Tahoe. We got to the fleet about 6a.m. The water was glass all day with barely a breeze. Super nice day to be out there.

We had action all day long ranging from bullheads up to a nice 63" sturgeon. There was a about 10 boats around us and didn't see them catch anything. Them guys kept starring at us when we hooked up. :smt044 I felt kinda bad at one point, but I know I've been on their boat before. So we end the day keeping a 48 and 63 sturgeon. 4 stripers from 19 to 22. Release 3 undersized sturgeon and 2 stripers. Over all it was a killer day out there. Oh sadly, onle the smallest striped was mines
