I was just going to glue it on as before but after the posts I was convinced to try a foam rubber "cradle" for a wet bath.  Now I am having 2nd thoughts.   :smt009  The forward hatch on the little hobie is not really very practical to access while OTW.  You can do it, but … not practical.  So….. now I'm thinking I might just glue it down.

I might make the cradle for the bath and try it out … and if that does not work … Rip that out and go back to goo ping-it-on.   :smt005

FYI- The trick with the Goop method is to let it tack up before applying the transducer. The more fluid the Goop is coming out of the tube the more likely you are to run into issues with it moving around and causing air bubbles.

I've installed several transducers this way and  have never had any issues. Plus you don't have to stand there and hold it or set anything on top of it.

It's like the Ronco saying "Set it and Forget it".

Good call, Krusty Tim! I'm gonna try that.

And +1 to Abdiver's suggestion. I am a big fan of the gooped-in transducer if it's the triangular transom style or round puck style. But I'm dealing with the conical shaped DSI transducer...which doesn't seem ideal for a goop install.

I did the wet bath pool noodle way, shaped the noodle to fit the hull and then used clear silicone for adhesion.  Both the silicon and noodle flex, so there is no possiblity of pop off.  Let dry at least a day or longer.  Install transducer and add water( I use a small pill bottle, more than enough to cover transducer).  Put a small notch in the side of the cut out for the transducer, this allows air to escape and water to get below the transducer.  After several years noodle is still adhered solidly, no false readings.

Have you considered a mad frog liberator or a RAM transducer arm? You could mount either of those on a 4" GT175 geartrac or a mighty mount with no worries at all. I just ordered a liberator nano and geartrac for my 'yak for my Elite-4 HDI to mount to as a kind of all in one solution.
