Thanks for the suggestions!

Locally on the California coast has there ever been a report of a kayaker being attacked or breeched upon?  A windsurfer who I knew was breeched upon while WS at Doran(?).  He said he flew in the air swam back to his board and there was no drama after that but....

Anyway, I ordered my laminated Calif. bottom fish ID chart and am looking forward to trying out new locations and discovering new Rf's.

If anyone is interested in going to any of the above mentioned RF venues please PM I would like to join you.  :smt006

Did he mean shark or whale?

I inferred his question to be about GWS as the occurrence is generally them not whales .

Yes, my question was about shark run ins while kayaking.  This link is about a surfer being breeched(attacked?) upon like what happened to my windsurfing buddy.  One theory I've read is the silhouette of a surfboard/windsurf board is like a seal a GWS food source.  My question is has a kayaker ever been attacked by a shark?  (I have to say I didn't read the entire thread because it was a bit long. )

I know of at least 7 times.

Its not 25 miles, but there is a good chance to meet people and learn with a group next Saturday at simply fishing. You don't have to be registered to hang out and fish.

Traildad are peddle kayaks NOT allowed at the Simply Fishing event?  Rather is it for paddle-only propulsion? I would like to go at least the Saturday.  Those T-shirts are way cool.

Many people will be paddling the Hobie's since the rules are "Simple".

The rock fishing isn’t fantastic at Lindamar, but you could still fill the freezer and it offers more of a wilderness experience than launching from Pillar Point Harbor.
That bay inside Big Pedro does have plenty o' rockfish.  Short paddle, plenty of structure.

....and potential for salmon. I would like to revisit LM at some point.  My first and last experience was very short due to an uncompromising nature call.  I learned to not have that second cup of coffee in the morning and no it wasn't a #1.  :smt005

You can use any kind of kayak you want if you don’t register. Hang out, fish with the group and bring a dish for the pot luck. You can still register but there are no more t-shirts. If you register you have to paddle, only use the lures that are provided, no fish finder, plus whatever other simple rules they have.  :smt006

Thanks for the kind invite.  What better and safer way to check out a new location than w a bunch of people.
