Do I need to log in at the NCKA Store, if I want to order something? If so, it won't accept my log-in. Not sure either if I saw a Checkout button.

General Talk / YouTube Quality
« on: October 10, 2007, 10:18:01 AM »
I remember reading a discussion between scwafish and others about video quality taking a dive after being posted to YouTube. Didn't remember either if there was a resolution. Ran across this tutorial at www.vcdhelp.com and thought some might find it helpful.

Fishing Tournaments and Events / Coyote Paddlefest Cancelled?
« on: September 05, 2007, 11:04:19 AM »
Has anyone heard any news about the annual Coyote Point paddlefest being cancelled? The website has apparently been removed. Googling the website showed a brief incimplete line about the event being cancelled at Coyote Point due to beach erosion. I presume they couldn't find another suitable site to hold the event on a last-minute notice.

General Fishing Tips / Medicine Bottles
« on: August 06, 2007, 07:11:19 PM »
Does anyone know a good way to remove prescription labels from the see-through orange medicine bottles. It would be a shame to toss them. They'd make great storage units for terminal tackle. My bottles, in particular, are from the V.A., which uses a glue that holds with a death grip.

General Fishing Tips / Bandit Lures
« on: July 20, 2007, 11:53:47 AM »
When I last fished in Mississippi 25 years ago, I remember that Bandit crankbait lures were very popular and very difficult to find. There was no website back then. I never could understand why because they didn't look any different from Cordell or Rapala lures. I caught largemouth bass in the oxbow lakes but think I would have had success with other brand lures. Any opinions on what the difference(s) may be?

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Car Rack vs Trailer
« on: May 25, 2007, 10:59:25 AM »
Big J...I sprang for a car rack instead of the Sportsrig trailer. Since I have impaired vision, I thought it wouldn't be very easy to be backing up to the water. My car is low enough to not aggravate my frozen shoulder. I picked up the new Thule Slipstream which allows sliding of the base to ensure that loading/unloading of the kayak avoids contact with the car.

I would have liked to rack my truck but that would have meant a more expensive rack and having to raise a kayak another 18+ inches above my shoulder.

I presume the DMV is disappointed with my decision.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Booties
« on: April 21, 2007, 01:52:50 PM »
What footwear is everyone wearing with their wetsuits when out on the big blue? I have neoprene booties that I wear over my freshwater neooprene waders when float tubing but am not sure if that is enough to stay warm, if not dry. My freshwater waders have stocking feet, therefore the extra insulation.

Kayaks / Capacity Rating Reliability
« on: April 08, 2007, 09:49:24 PM »
Anybody have any insight into how reliable the capacity ratings are for kayaks. I'm sure it varies between manufacturers. I had asked Hobie Boats about the Outback capacity (340 pounds) and how critical was it for a 250-pound person. (Yes, I know the gear you pack will add to the weight.) The closest I could get a rep to answer my question was that the closer you get to capacity, the more water enters the kayak.
