Garibaldi is a long haul, but they do have a nice marina there.  I did the Oregon Tuna classic there once.
It's only an 8 hour drive from your stomping grounds of course with all the opportunity to fish between I'm thinking a two week round trip so you got plenty of time to fish :smt005
Plus we had Pmmpete from Montana here last year.

Ya I love living here it's a drinking town with a fishing problem for sure but not too rowdy.  :beer2
It can get real nasty in the winter time but I'm only 35 minutes from Pacific City/Cape Kiwanda one of our goto surf launch spots, got rolled coming in Wednesday love it.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Rock fish Rigging and set up Ideas?

I run 80# braid with 30-40# mono store bought as well as custom tied shrimp fly rigs customs get a surgeons knot. To break off a snag I hand line the slack and wrap it around my fish bat 3-4 times, this is the important part so read really slow, stay centers in your boat, keep the bat close to the gunwal, roll the bat as to real in the slack and once you got tension on the line give a "fast steady jerk"upwards, and no I'm not talking about the guy that paddles faster then you and catches more fish.

Thanks SamM for posting and thanks Todd for volunteering to go between. I got my NCKA account up and running today so any questions can go on the post or you can PM me. I know GSX is the same day but May Day is always the Saturday with an early morning low tid as we have 5 rivers dumping into this bay and the tide is not traversable in the opposite direction of said water flow , no not even in a hobie with turbo fins. It's still a small tournament only in its second year but 100% of the proceeds go to H.O.W. Portland chapter.

Hello from Oregon, I have been an active member of NWKA as well as an active volunteer for H.O.W. Portland chapter. I have been told that I have a dry sense of humor so I hope I don't offend any of you guys from time to time. I have been married for 26 years this November and live full time in a 40 ft RV. Planned on traveling since I was forcibly retired but our daughter decided to grace us with a grandson and my wife ain't going that far away from him for any length of time. I ride a Jackson Big Tuna my wife has a Native Mariner Propel and my grandson has a Sparky at 4-1/2 he's still working out the paddling part :smt003
Hope to fish with some of you guys down there as well as up here.
