I like these ideas Nuggy T,
Would you be willing to help organize/run such event?
Contact me in PM if interested.

OK, Everything is just about ready to go ……
But ……
I’m waiting for the new event website to publish (up to 48 hours).
Once everything clears, I will post a link to the event site where you will be able to print forms and find all the info about Open Shelter 2022.
Also,
I have a team working on the event T-shirts that should represent the event very well. I will post the artwork as soon as we finalize the design.
Another thing,
I want to thank all of you who have messaged me about assisting during the event weekend. I will be reaching out to you in the coming weeks.
Please,
Be patient with me as there is a lot going on here with the Event, the Inn, a few side jobs I’m working, and a trip to Bozeman next week to watch my nieces college graduation.
Organizing a event like this definitely takes a lot of time and energy, but I’m sure it will be worth it in the end.
Thank you all for making the kayak fishing community one of the best
See Ya Soon,

I am very excited about this event and Just about ready to post official info about Open Shelter 2022!
I hope everyone enjoys the format I have chosen this year, but I am always welcome to feedback, so if something doesn’t look good or you have thought about improvements, please call or send me a PM.

With that said, I am looking for a couple things ….
1. I will probably need a couple volunteers to help throughout the day
2. In order to have a raffle, I will need help collecting items.
3. I need suggestions for a few family friendly activities while family members are on the water. May also need volunteers to help coordinate these activities.

Unfortunately, I’m not as young as I used to be, and there will be a lot going on during this event, so, any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Eric

MBK derby is scheduled on Sept 17th as well.

I'm sorry for the conflict of events.
Unfortunately, this is the same weekend this event has been held for the three years prior to Covid.
However, with a 400-mile separation, I am hopeful that it will not be a major conflict.

I am sad to say that an unforeseen event has caused me to have to CANCEL this event.
I will be sending all registration forms and checks that I have received back to the senders
I am saddened to have to do this, but it is beyond my control
Thank you to all who have shown interest in this event
I am truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: ISO VHS Radio recommendation
« on: April 26, 2022, 04:14:48 PM »
Strongly suggest the Standard Horizons HX300.
Definitely has the dependability S.H. is known for, but unlike the rest of their line, the HX300 is charged with a USB cable rather then the standard cradle. Also comes with a car charger included (great for topping off on the drive to the ramp).

Trout will be your best bet
Get on the water before first light
Fish near the docks across from the dam
Look for schools of bait and jig with a laser minnow 1/4 oz
add a stinger hook about one foot above with a mini hoochie
also troll the south end with #5 Rapalas
get off the water by 9-10am and hang with family
You will also have another window just before sunset
Good Luck

It's Official,
I will be organizing the Open Shelter Kayak Fishing Event to be held on September 18th 2022.
I will try to have all the details posted along with the official Entry / Rules / Waiver by the end of the month.
What I have in the works this far ....
There will be multiple categories to enter
 Top Angler ( most species)
 Ling Master ( largest Lingcod)
Big Kahuna (largest fish by 15 or younger angler)
Chill Master ( random drawing amongst registered participants)
Quality T-Shirts will be available for an additional fee
Also,
As we emerge from the COVID, there will be NO POT-LUCK
Instead, every full entry will receive two meal wrist bands (one for each junior entry) good at one of the (multiple) food stations where you will be served hot food. ( extra wrist bands will be available for a minimum fee)
I am working on a few other ideas that I will include with the official post.
All proceeds after expenses will be donated to
The Shelter Cove Fishing Preservation SCFP.org
A non profit organization

Interested :smt006

I noticed we have a weekend booked in September. We'll try to attend if the dates workout.

Thanks for setting this up Eric!

No dates set in stone, but thinking around the weekend of the 17th of September

im in.  I would be happy to put together the taco shack and do mass quantities of fish tacos for dinner.

Thank you,
That would be awesome Jack,
I will be in contact and definitely take you up on that.
I think rather than a pot luck, maybe two or three food stations may work out better .... Already have a pulled pork and BBQ chicken stand in the works.
